Khanh Hoa boosting export growth

Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee is implementing an action program to implement the Strategy for Import and Export of Goods to 2030 in the province. Accordingly, the province focuses on developing export and import of goods in a sustainable way, effectively using resources, protecting the ecological environment, improving productivity, efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises.

Striving for 2 billion USD in export  by 2025

In recent years, the province's export turnover has always reached 1.3-1.5 billion USD. However, due to the impact of the epidemic and the fluctuations of the world economy, the province's export turnover is facing difficulties. In the first six months of 2023, the province's export turnover reached 789.1 million USD, up 3.12% over the same period last year. But by the end of July, export turnover was only 872.6 million USD, down 6.29% over the same period last year.

Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee determined that there should be specific solutions to boost exports, contributing to the development of the province's economy together with other fields. In the action program to implement the province's import and export strategy to 2030, the Provincial People's Committee has set a goal to strive that by 2025, commodity export turnover will reach 2 billion USD, the growth rate of commodity exports will be in the next period. In the period 2021 - 2030, the average growth rate will be about 6-7%. In particular, during this period, OCOP products (one product per commune program) qualified for 4 stars, 5 stars, typical rural industrial products at provincial level, products on the list of key agricultural products of the province will be promoted export.
Huynh Tan Hai - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that from now until 2030, the province's export strength will still focus on seafood products and shipbuilding. Currently, the shipbuilding industry accounts for a very large proportion of export items, but seafood is the strongest. The province determined to build an import and export strategy for sustainable development, improve the productivity, efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises, maintain a stable import and export growth rate with the trade balance, with the full participation of all economic sectors. In particular, the province will promote industrialization and modernization, increasing the proportion of export products with added value, high science - technology content, green economic products and eco-friendly products.

In order to achieve the set goals, in addition to regular tasks, the provincial People's Committee requires relevant departments, branches, localities, enterprises and units to organize the implementation of many other important tasks, including reviewing and supplementing tasks to effectively implement the provincial industrial development planning to 2025, with a vision to 2035; action plan of the Provincial Party Committee on the orientation of building national industrial development policies to 2030, with a vision to 2045 in the province; promoting the restructuring of industrial production fields, focusing on restructuring the linkage chain to serve industrial production, especially expanding production scale, giving priority to investment in development of industries, especially industries that have strengths and have a direct impact on the province's export growth such as shipbuilding, processing products from bird's nest, mechanics, seafood processing...

In addition, the province will implement policies to support space rents for small and medium enterprises in industrial parks and industrial clusters. The province has assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with other departments, agencies and localities to remove difficulties for investors when implementing technical infrastructure construction and secondary investment in industrial zones and clusters. The provincial People's Committee creates all favorable conditions for investors to accelerate the completion of infrastructure projects in Ninh Thuy Industrial Zone; industrial clusters of Trang E, Dien Tho, Ninh Xuan and Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant...

According to Le Huu Hoang - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, in the action program to implement the Strategy for goods import and export to 2030, the provincial People's Committee also requires departments, departments and branches to coordinate to call for investment in projects in the field of industry and commercial infrastructure in order to develop various types of logistics services and technical infrastructure, partly improving the efficiency of import and export activities; encourage enterprises to develop and apply smart manufacturing and processing industries, creating breakthroughs in new production capacity associated with science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. The provincial People's Committee will promote activities to support the application of advanced machines, technologies and equipment to improve productivity and product quality; supporting enterprises to improve their management and administration methods through national and local industrial promotion programs; strengthen management in the organization of export and import activities, in order to facilitate trade, combat fraud, manage and control imports, towards fair trade; enhance the role of associations, industry associations, enterprises, cooperatives and business households.
