Khanh Hoa Province makes efforts to diversify international tourists

During the past 10 months of 2023, tourism in Khanh Hoa province has recovered quite well, exceeding the target for the whole year. Although the number of international tourists has grown sharply compared to 2022, it is still far behind the figure before the Covid-19 epidemic. Therefore, the province's tourism industry is making efforts to diversify tourist sources towards recovery and sustainable development.

According to statistics from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), in the first 10 months of 2023, the country served 98.7 million domestic tourists and welcomed nearly 10 million international visitors, an increase of 324.1% over the same period in 2022. During this period, Khanh Hoa welcomed 6.2 million visitors, including nearly 1.7 million international visitors, 8.9 times over the same period. Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of the provincial Department of Tourism shared that the initial goal of Khanh Hoa Tourism is to welcome 1.4 million international visitors in 2023. Owning to favorable factors, Khanh Hoa tourism has exceeded its set target for 10 months. Therefore, the tourism industry decided to raise the target of international visitors in 2023 to 2 million visitors.

Currently, the Covid-19 epidemic has been controlled but big conflicts in the world have not yet ended and many economies are still in recession, which has significantly affected the province's international tourist market. Khanh Hoa province's tourism has made efforts to promote promotion and advertising to some countries like Australia, Japan, India... to diversify tourists. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, promotion activities have brought initial positive signals from these markets. Airlines are planning to open direct flights from these countries to Khanh Hoa.

Besides, the province's tourism industry also hopes that the new visa policy will be a lever to promote the international tourist market in 2024.

According to predictions by international tourism organizations, in 2024, the prospect of global economic recovery will be a driving force for the tourism. With the strengths of tourism and low prices of tourism services, Khanh Hoa tourism will have certain advantages in attracting international visitors. However, according to tourism experts, young tourists tend to choose destinations by consulting travel information from posts, travel experiences from relatives, friends, and celebrities, travel blogs, social networks... instead of watching regular travel ads. Therefore, businesses need to apply digital technology, improve products and service quality, diversify customer experiences, and build Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism brand to promote international tourist attractions.

On November 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference to develop Vietnam's tourism quickly and sustainably, emphasizing the need to find solutions to promote sustainable development of the tourism industry. Reporting at the conference, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said that international tourist arrivals in the first 10 months of 2023 were only 69% of the same period in 2019. Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism recommended to keep strengthening inter-sectoral coordination, researching and proposing mechanisms and policies to further facilitate the recovery and development of tourism…In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism defined key solutions, such as promoting inter-regional and inter-local coordination, forming value chains, tourism products and building a civilized, safe and friendly tourism environment; drastically deploying tourism promotion activities, speeding up the recovery of the international tourist market; developing branded tourism products and services with added value and high competitiveness, promoting digital transformation and developing tourism human resources...
