Khanh Vinh: Many households escaped poverty thanks to vocationally trained

In recent years, Khanh Vinh district has always focused on promoting vocational training to create jobs for people in the area. Thanks to that, many households, especially poor, near-poor, and newly escaped poverty households have changed jobs, had stable jobs, and escaped poverty sustainably.

Many households escaped poverty

In previous years, due to lack of skills and qualifications, Hoang The Huu (in Khanh Trung commune, Khanh Vinh district) was not recruited by units or businesses. To earning living, he worked as an acacia cutter for hire, his salary was only 150,000 VND/day, and it was erratic. Therefore, the life of his family of 5 people was always lacking before. Through a survey, the district encouraged Huu to participate in a veterinary technical training class. In addition to 100% support for vocational training costs, Huu also received support for food and transportation during his studies. After completing his studies, Huu borrowed capital from the district Bank for Social Policies to invest in opening a chicken farm. Huu shared: "Thanks to participating in vocational training, associated with job creation, it has helped my family escape poverty. Thanks to a stable income, family life is less difficult. My family can buy household items, and the children receive good education."

With local encouragement, Cao Thi Ny (in Khanh Trung commune) participated in a professional kitchen training class. During her studies, Ny was exempted from tuition fees and received support for food and transportation. After that, Ny returned to the district to open a restaurant selling breakfast, earning 200,000 VND per day. Thanks to her skills in cooking, she has been recruited by Khanh Trung Primary School for a nursing position with a salary of nearly 4 million VND/month. Thanks to her job and stable income, Ny has escaped poverty, her children have the opportunity to go to school, and her family has a more fulfilling life.

Mo Chim (in Lien Sang commune) is also one of many people in Khanh Vinh district who changed his life by participating in vocational training. After being trained in fruit growing, he applied the knowledge into growing grapefruits and durians on an area of more than 2 hectares. At the same time, he was lent with policy credit capital to buy fertilizer and machinery for production. Thanks to that, plants grow well and give high yields. During the recent durian harvest, his family made a profit of more than 80 million VND. Chim shared: "Previously, due to lack of knowledge, the family only grew corn and noodles for low income on our land. Having been trained in fruit growing, I can apply knowledge to work for family economic development. Thanks to that, family life is stable, there is no need to work as a seasonal laborer, and income is no longer as unstable as before. In particular, my family was considered to have escaped poverty".

Training associated with labor needs

According to Ca Tong Thi Men - Vice Chairwoman of Khanh Vinh District People's Committee, vocational training and jobs are identified as one of the important criteria of the National Target Program for sustainable poverty reduction in the period 2021 - 2025, the district has promoted propaganda on vocational training and career orientation for local people in many forms. Along with that, the district has directed departments, units, and localities to survey people's vocational training needs and the needs of enterprises, production and business establishments to use trained labor and link vocational training with employment needs. Besides, the district always focuses on vocational training associated with agricultural production, traditional occupations as well as new occupations. It helps local people, especially poor, near-poor, and newly escaped poverty households, to improve their knowledge and apply scientific and technical advances in effectively converting crops and livestock, contributing to economic development.
Kieu Xuan Khiem - Principal of Khanh Vinh Boarding Vocational School for Ethnic Minorities said that from 2022 up to now, the unit has coordinated with all levels, branches and localities to organize 17 vocational training classes for workers under the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, with 527 participants; organized a vocational training class for workers from poor, near-poor, and newly escaped poverty households under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction for 34 peoples. In addition, the school also actively consults, enrolls and trains 180 intermediate students each year. Along with that, the school has coordinated with relevant departments and branches to organize consulting, introduction, and support for workers to find suitable jobs after training, partly increasing income and improving their lives. After training, more than 90% of workers have stable jobs.

In the coming time, Khanh Vinh district will promote and innovate propaganda and mobilize people to participate in vocational training. At the same time, the district will focus on vocational training to provide human resources according to the needs of businesses in Song Cau Industrial Cluster...
