On January 20, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa Province, the People's Committee of Phu Yen Province and the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan Province jointly organized a conference on socio-economic development cooperation among three provinces. The conference focused on introducing the strengths and development potential of three provinces of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen and Ninh Thuan. Accordingly, the three provinces in the South Central Subregion have a particularly important geographical position in the development of the marine economy and coastal economic activities, such as maritime economy; aquaculture, exploitation and processing of aquatic products; shipbuilding industry; sea tourism; application of science and technology in marine economic exploitation and management; economic zones, concentrated industrial parks and coastal export processing zones associated with coastal urban areas. This is also the main gateway to the sea of the Central Highlands region, connecting the East - West economic corridor, playing a driving force in promoting the overall development of the South Central region, the Central Highlands and Spratly.
According to Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan, in recent times, Khanh Hoa has paid attention to strengthening regional development links in the fields of trade, tourism services, training high-quality human resources, and investment promotion, aquaculture, supporting industry development, environmental protection, natural disaster prevention and control..., which has achieved certain results, thereby contributing to the overall economic growth of the region. “However, on the road to develop the South Central region as a dynamic, sustainable region which is strong in maritime economy, we need companionship, solidarity and mutual support among provinces in the region in general and the three provinces Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, and Ninh Thuan in particular", Nguyen Tan Tuan emphasized.

Agreeing with the development orientation of Khanh Hoa province, leaders of Phu Yen and Ninh Thuan provinces also said that in recent times, cooperation and development links between provinces in the region have gradually been promoted, but the potential and strengths of each provinces have not yet been fully exploited. Therefore, the signing of socio-economic development cooperation between the three provinces this time will strengthen trade and connection, creating conditions for businesses to promote their brands and typical products, forward investment promotion and tourism connection; thereby creating new development momentum for each province.
The three provinces of Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan have a population size of about 2.7 million people in 2023, accounting for 13% of the population of the Central region, with a total natural area of about 13.5 thousand square kilometers, 610km of coastline. The provinces have convenient geographical locations and transportation, near Ho Chi Minh and the key economic triangle of the Southeast region; is the gateway to the Central Highlands; has a complete transportation system, both by road (North - South Highway Expressway, National Road 1, national roads connecting to the Central Highlands) and by air (Tuy Hoa Airport, Cam Ranh International Airport), railways, waterways and seaports (Van Phong, Vung Ro, Ca Na...) fully meet the conditions for development.

Leaders of the three provinces exchanged, discussed and agreed on a number of principles for signing socio-economic development cooperation to ensure equality and mutual benefit on the basis of promoting potential, strengths of the provinces and in accordance with the provisions of law. On that basis, leaders of Khanh Hoa Province signed a memorandum of agreement on socio-economic development cooperation for the period of 2024 - 2025, with an orientation to 2030 with Phu Yen Province and Ninh Thuan Province. Leaders of Phu Yen Province also signed a memorandum of agreement on socio-economic development cooperation with Ninh Thuan Province in 7 fields, including: cooperation in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; promoting investment, trade, services, foreign affairs and international cooperation; tourism; culture; transportation; health, education and training, labor and employment; environmental protection, natural disaster prevention and control, climate change adaptation and security- national defense.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh assessed that the cooperation between the three provinces of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen and Ninh Thuan not only promotes the potential, strengths, creates motivation to develop together but also affects the development of the three provinces. general development of the South Central Coast region in particular and the country in general. The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly proposed that the three provinces need to have actions and solutions to concretize cooperation commitments to effectively exploit the potential and advantages and promote the development of the three localities in all fields. The implementation of cooperation and linkage between the three provinces needs to closely follow the regional development orientation according to Resolution No. 26 dated November 3, 2022 of the Politburo on socio-economic development,ensuring national defense and securit of North Central region and Central coastal region to 2030, vision to 2045 and planning of the provinces. Economic development cooperation need go with environmental protection, ensuring progress and social justice, promoting traditional cultural values and firmly ensuring national defense and security. The provinces need to focus on linked activities to sustainably develop the marine economy; developing infrastructure to adapt to climate change, improving the efficiency of infrastructure in coastal economic zones, industrial parks, and coastal urban systems; forming industry clusters at inter-provincial and inter-regional levels associated with marine economic centers. Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh also noted that, based on the contents of the cooperation agreement, the Party Committee and the authorities of each province need urgently direct departments, branches, localities, and businesses to develop specific cooperation programs and projects for implementation, ensuring the highest efficiency, and regular inspect and supervise the implementation.
At the conference, the Young Entrepreneurs Association and the Tourism Association of the three provinces signed and handed over a memorandum of cooperation, with the goals as follows: supporting each other in promoting the advantages of each province's tourism resources, strengthening promotion and advertising about tourism potential, image of the country, people and customs of each province to domestic and foreign tourists...Businesses, supermarkets and distributors from three provinces met, exchanged information, and connected about local products; displayed and introduced potential investment activities, products, goods and services of the three provinces...
Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hai Ninh pledged that in order to soon realize the cooperation contents in the signed agreements, Khanh Hoa province will coordinate with Phu Yen province and Ninh Thuan province to focus on directing the implementation of a number of key tasks. In particular, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa Province coordinated with the People's Committees of Phu Yen Province and Ninh Thuan Province to urgently issue a plan to implement the socio-economic development cooperation agreement between the provinces, which will clearly state the content of cooperation. according to each industry and field between localities, orient the results, products, and goals to be achieved so that cooperation can be highly effective.
