Near Tet, demand for lobsters is on the rise. Therefore, lobster sale is still stable.
In the middle of the last month of the lunar year, Da Bac port (Cam Ranh City) is bustling with boats going in and out of lobster farming areas on Cam Ranh Bay. Early in the morning, boats carry foodstuff to the farming area. At noon, the boats carries lobsters to shore for consumption. In the lobster farming areas in Cam Binh, Cam Lap..., raisers are busy taking care of lobsters to prepare for sale during this year's Lunar New Year. From the beginning of January until now, on average eeach day, Da Bac port receives about 10 boats bringing lobsters from farming areas to shore for consumption, with about 7 - 10 tons of lobsters passing through the port.
According to Nguyen Huu Thien - a lobster farmer in Cam Binh commune, in 2023, blue lobster farmers will be quite profitable. Partly due to favorable weather, few disease outbreaks, partly due to stable output, high purchasing price, fluctuating around 1 million VND/kg (3 fish/kg), sometimes increasing. up to 1.25 million VND/kg. Thanks to that, most lobster farmers are profitable. This year, Thien's family harvested 50 lobster cages. After deducting investment costs of about 80 million VND/cage to raise 500 shrimp, his family profited more than 15 million VND/cage. Overall, Mr. Thien's family earned more than 750 million VND.
Vo Xuan Hai - a cage lobster farmer in Cam Lap commune said: "After many years of being severely affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, output was unstable, lobster prices dropped to the bottom, at times only 450,000 VND/kg. This year, lobster farmers on Cam Ranh Bay have a good harvest and a good price. My family raises 120 lobster cages with a total output of 12 tons. After deducting all farming investment costs, the profit was more than 1.6 billion VND."
In the lobster farming area on Van Phong Bay, the consumption of lobsters is also favorable. According to the leader of the Van Ninh District Economic Department, there about 35,000 lobster cages in the district. In 2023, lobster consumption is quite favorable, the selling price is stable at a fairly high level, an average of 1 million VND/kg, so farming households have a good profit, an average of 15 - 20 million VND/cage.
According to Phan Ngoc Tan - Deputy Director of the Department of Fisheries, in 2023, the whole province had 74,443 lobster cages, with a harvest of about 18,000 tons.
