Khanh Hoa aims to become economic center of the country

According to Khanh Hoa Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, by 2030, Khanh Hoa will become a centrally run city, by 2050 it will become a big center  maritime economy of the country. In 2023, the whole the province has made efforts to implement planning and attract investment to gradually realize the goals set out.

4 corridors and 3 dynamic zones

According to the approved planning, in the coming years, Khanh Hoa will form 4 economic corridors, connecting inter-regions and creating strong development momentum. Specifically, the North - South economic corridor is the province's main economic corridor associated with the North - South traffic axis, connecting 3 development driving regions, including: Van Phong - Nha Trang - Cam Ranh, connecting coastal urban chain and gateway infrastructure such as seaports, airports... The East - West economic corridor is formed on the basis of the East - West traffic axis, including: National Highway 26, National Highway 26B and Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot highway. The East - West economic corridor will connect urban development areas, service centers, tourism, and coastal industrial production with the province's inland areas. At the same time, it  will connect Nha Trang - Van Phong area with Dak Lak province and the Central Highlands provinces. In addition, there is also the Ninh Thuan - Khanh Hoa - Lam Dong route and the Ta Gu (Khanh Son district) - Yang Bay (Khanh Vinh district) route that has been approved by the National Assembly and will be implemented in the near future.

According to NGUYEN TAN TUAN - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, in the coming time, Khanh Hoa will invest in completing transportation infrastructure connecting to dynamic regions and completing the system of subdivision planning. At the same time, the province will strengthen administrative reform, improve the investment and business environment and improve local governance index to increase competitiveness, contribute to attracting investment, develop the economy, and become a central economic center of the region and the country. To achieve the set goal, Khanh Hoa must mobilize all resources inside and outside the province for socio-economic development. At the same time, the province will strongly develop high-quality human resources, focusing on important industries; strengthen research and application of science and technology, especially in areas for marine economic development. Besides, we must focus on developing Van Phong Economic Zone and Cam Lam urban area to create new development momentum.

The Nha Trang - Dien Khanh - Khanh Vinh economic corridor formed on the basis of National Highway 27C and the Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) - Da Lat (Lam Dong) expressway is expected to help enhance the spillover effect of development from Nha Trang, integrated connection of urban areas, services, tourism, industry, agriculture and form urban areas. The Cam Ranh - Cam Lam - Khanh Son economic corridor was formed on the basis of Provincial Road 9, helping to connect and spread development from the coastal and delta areas with a focus Cam Ranh City and Cam Lam new urban area with Khanh Son mountainous area; connecting sea and island tourism with mountain, forest and cultural eco-tourism; and connecting between agriculture and processing industry.

Besides the 4 economic corridors, Khanh Hoa has also identified 3 driving regions to focus on attracting investment, reaching out to become a major marine economic center of the country. For the Van Phong Bay, the province will develop Van Phong Economic Zone to become a modern marine economic center, a driving force for the development of Khanh Hoa in particular and the South Central region in general. In particular, the north of Van Phong will become a world-class tourist and resort urban area; The south of Van Phong will become an industrial center associated with the seaport, an area focusing on developing industrial parks, renewable energy industries, oil and gas processing, shipbuilding, logistics services, transportation services. marine transportation and supporting industries. For the dynamic region of Nha Trang, this will be the center of economics, politics, culture, society, science, technology, and human resource training; more effectively promote the province's role as an important growth pole and gateway to international integration. For the Cam Ranh dynamic area, the province will develop the Cam Ranh Bay area as a key economic and social area associated with national defense and security; develop Cam Ranh City as a tourism - logistics urban area, Cam Lam district as a modern, ecological, world-class airport urban area.

Efforts to attract investment

Since the beginning of 2023, the Van Phong Economic Zone Management Board has worked with a series of corporations and companies interested in proposing investment projects in Van Phong Economic Zone and industrial parks in the province. Through contact, the management board has grasped the needs of investors to research in the process of planning the zoning of functional areas in Van Phong Economic Zone and industrial parks in the province. Thereby, the province has promptly applied and effectively implemented Resolution No. 55 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies to develop the province, contributing to strongly attracting investment capital sources and directing towards the goal of developing Khanh Hoa to become a centrally run city by 2030. At the Conference to announce planning and promote investment of Khanh Hoa province in 2023, the Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung granted the Decision approving the investment policy for the Cam Ranh Bay Urban Area Project with a total registered capital of 85,293 billion VND. At the same time, Khanh Hoa Province People's Committee granted the Decision approving investment policies for 8 projects with a total registered capital of 31,253 billion VND.

The Van Phong Economic Zone Management Board is making efforts to develop 19 zoning plans in the economic zone to complete the schedule by the end of 2024. In the south of Van Phong, a number of large-scale industrial projects have been and are being deployed. Currently, there are many large businesses interested in investing in Van Phong Economic Zone, such as: Sun Group, Flamingo Holding Company, SSI Joint Stock Company, Phuong Dong Petroleum Joint Stock Company, Shinec Joint Stock Company, Saigon New Port Corporation, Trung Nam Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, Sonadezi Corporation, Becamex Corporation, VISHIP... Khanh Hoa Province People's Committee has planned to select investors in 2 key projects and 9 large projects in Van Phong Economic Zone. At the same time, efforts will be made to deploy resettlement areas in the north of Van Phong to meet resettlement needs when projects are implemented.
