Cam Ranh to become economic center in the south of Khanh Hoa province

Khanh Hoa Province People's Committee has just issued a Decision approving the Project to Adjust the General Planning of Cam Ranh City to 2045. According to the project, Cam Ranh City is oriented to develop as an economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technical center of the southern region of the province.

Le Ngoc Thach - Chairman of Cam Ranh City People's Committee said that the Provincial People's Committee's approval of the Project to Adjust the General Planning of the city is of great significance. This is the basis for the city to orient its development in the coming period, and at the same time is the driving force to gradually concretize Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo on building and developing Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045; especially to concretize the city's Urban Development Program, striving to become a district of a centrally-run city by 2029 - 2030; gradually build urban infrastructure in accordance with the city's socio-economic development stage, increase the urbanization rate in the city. The city is expected to announce the planning in August. At the same time, the city will organize the establishment, adjustment, and approval of zoning plans, detailed plans, and urban designs according to its authority.

A part of Cam Ranh Bay

According to the project, the total planning area of the city is more than 33,708 hectares. Cam Ranh is oriented to become an economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technical center of the southern region of the province. At the same time, the city will be a tourism - logistics urban area; an important road, rail, waterway and air traffic hub of the province; synchronously connecting with Cam Lam airport urban area according to the orientation of Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo... By 2045, the city's population will be about 823,000 people; the total urban construction land will be about 14,659 hectares (average about 124.5 m2/person).

The urban space includes 3 main landscape areas: The mountainous area to the west of the city prioritizes exploitation and sustainable development, conservation of Hon Rong mountain nature; protection of water resources, freshwater lakes, such as: Ta Luong Lake, Suoi Hanh Lake, Song Can Lake; conservation of natural landscapes, development of ecological agriculture, ecotourism and renewable energy production. For the eastern coastal area, priority will be given to protecting the coastal corridor, developing resort services and sea and island entertainment. The central Cam Ranh Bay landscape area is the central coastal and ecological urban landscape area of the entire city.

Regarding the orientation of urban space development, for the renovated and embellished areas, public transport will be developed; green space will be increased; social infrastructure and technical infrastructure will be added. Particularly, the new development areas of the city will expand urban construction space in areas with development potential according to the principles of preserving, embellishing and promoting the typical landscape values, marine ecosystems and forests of Cam Ranh. At the same time, new central areas and newly developed urban areas are oriented to develop in association with tourism, logistics, etc.
