Khanh Hoa - Hiroshima cooperation

Khanh Hoa Province People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement cooperation activities between Khanh Hoa and Hiroshima (Japan) for the period 2024 - 2029. This is an important step forward in the cooperative relationship between the two localities and concretizes the contents noted in the previous cooperation agreement, opening up new prospects for common development.

Chairman of Khanh Hoa Province People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan and Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture Hidehiko Yuzaki signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two localities.

Focus on main fields

The plan to implement cooperation activities between Khanh Hoa and Hiroshima focuses on many important areas. Accordingly, in the field of investment and trade, the province will promote attracting investment from Japan in general and Hiroshima province in particular in the following areas: high-tech industry, processing industry, clean energy, information technology, healthcare for the elderly, high-tech medical services, large commercial centers, logistics services, seaport logistics services and supporting industries. At the same time, the province will also effectively provide necessary investment information to agencies, organizations and investors in Hiroshima province. In the period of 2024 - 2029, the province will proactively organize the Khanh Hoa - Japan Investment Promotion Conference in Hiroshima in 2026 and 2028; promote trade, export and import activities between Khanh Hoa province and Japan in general and Hiroshima in particular...

In the field of tourism, the province will study the opening of direct flight between Cam Ranh International Airport and Hiroshima province; coordinate the organization of a survey program for Hiroshima province's famtrip, presstrip, and mediatrip delegations to learn about and survey tourism services and products in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa; invite the Hiroshima province delegation to attend the Nha Trang International Sea Tourism Festival in 2026 and 2028; organize a tourism promotion program in Hiroshima province... In particular, in the field of human resources, education and training, the province will study, develop and implement a plan to organize vocational training, send Khanh Hoa workers to work in Hiroshima province, including providing labor for nursing facilities. Cooperation in this field is considered one of the highlights of the plan. The connection of training facilities between the two provinces will help improve the quality of human resources, meeting the development needs of both localities.

Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture Hidehiko Yuzaki commented: "The relationship between Hiroshima and Khanh Hoa is getting better and better. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with Hiroshima Prefecture will be the basis for promoting the relationship between the two sides to develop more and more strongly. On the basis of the signing of the cooperation, the two sides will exchange and discuss bilateral cooperation contents to promote the cooperative relationship to a new level. Through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, it is hoped that more Japanese people in general and Hiroshima Prefecture in particular will know more about Khanh Hoa Province and Khanh Hoa people will also know about Hiroshima Prefecture."

Specifically, through cooperation, many job opportunities will be created from Japanese investment projects; Khanh Hoa workers will have the opportunity to access the world's leading production and technology. In addition, cooperation in the fields of health and education will help improve the quality of life of the people. Cooperation between the two localities also contributes to promoting tourism development; promoting Khanh Hoa tourism in Japan, attracting more tourists to Nha Trang.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that when implementing cooperation activities between Khanh Hoa and Hiroshima, many new cooperation opportunities in economy, tourism, human resource development will be opened up... Cultural exchange activities are increasingly practical and effective, bringing practical benefits to both sides, contributing to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan to develop more and more prosperously. Khanh Hoa has a young, abundant and highly skilled human resource. The province is focusing on investing in developing human resources in tourism and nursing care for the elderly. Therefore, it is hoped that Hiroshima province will create favorable conditions to support interns to work in Hiroshima.

Based on the assigned tasks, Khanh Hoa Province People's Committee requests departments, branches, localities and related units to develop detailed plans to implement or integrate related contents into cooperation activities between Khanh Hoa and Hiroshima. Khanh Hoa Province People's Committee assigns the Department of Foreign Affairs to be the focal agency to monitor and urge related agencies and units to implement the plan, and annually report to the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation situation and results.

Khanh Hoa province has attracted 607 investment projects with non-budgetary capital, with a total registered investment capital of over VND480 trillion. Of which, Van Phong Economic Zone has attracted 150 investment projects, Suoi Dau Industrial Park has attracted 57 investment projects. Regarding FDI projects, the province has attracted 111 projects with a total registered investment capital of over USD3.8 billion, including 6 projects from Japan with a total registered investment capital of over USD2.65 billion, accounting for nearly 70% of total FDI capital. Japan is the largest foreign investor in Khanh Hoa.
