Over the past 20 years, the district has researched and developed many types of crops with high economic value. Agriculture has become the district's key economic sector, accounting for more than 70% of the district's economic structure. In particular, the development of fruit trees has created a breakthrough, increasing people's income. Currently, the whole district has 3,640 hectares of fruit trees, with output in 2024 reaching 22,219 tons. Of which, durian accounts for 71% of the fruit tree area, with 2,600 hectares; the area being harvested is 1,700 hectares, the output in 2024 may reach more than 17,000 tons. Many gardeners in the area have applied production according to GAP standards (VietGAP, GlobalGAP) with more than 350 hectares; there are 15 durian growing area codes officially exported to China with a total area of 430 hectares.

According to the leaders of Khanh Son district People's Committee, the district is focusing on implementing the Project on converting and developing the agricultural sector in the direction of: Shifting from the mindset of "agricultural production" to the mindset of "agricultural economics", producing high-value agricultural products consistent with market requirements; shifting from the agricultural product supply chain to the industry value chain; shifting from agricultural production focusing on increasing output to green agriculture, applying high technology, and sustainable development; moving from single-sector development to multi-sector integration, from one value to integrating many values...
To promote the advantages of agricultural production, especially creating output and enhancing the value of local agricultural products, in recent times, the district has encouraged organizations and individuals in the area to invest in deep processing of typical agricultural products of the district. The pioneer in this field is Thanh Hung Agriculture Co., Ltd. (in Ba Cum Bac commune). “Recently, the company has expanded its scale and invested in technology to deeply process many agricultural products, with the desire to contribute to protecting, preserving and promoting the value of the district's typical agricultural products, enhance the value of Khanh Son durian fruit, build a sustainable value chain, create more stable jobs for people in the region", Le Thi Vinh Hang - Deputy Director of Thanh Hung Agriculture Co., Ltd. shared.
Dinh Van Dung - Chairman of Khanh Son District People's Committee said: Developing a variety of products based on fruits, especially fresh durian for domestic consumption and export, will contribute to raising the brand for Khanh Son durian, increasing income for durian growers; helping increase the average production value/ha of cultivated land in the district to now reach 100 million VND/ha. The district encourages businesses to develop agriculture in the direction of multi-value integration, both producing organic agriculture, diversifying OCOP products, and integrating agricultural development with tourism, linking in chains from products to processing and consumption.
