Cam Lam aims to become a city by 2030

In 2024, Cam Lam District People's Committee focused on directing the tasks and solutions to implement the socio-economic development plan and the state budget estimate. In 2025, Cam Lam District will continue to effectively implement Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo on building and developing Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045, striving to bring Cam Lam to complete the criteria to become a city by 2030.

Many targets exceeded

In recent times, Cam Lam District People's Committee has strengthened the direction of investors in the district to speed up the implementation progress and disbursement of public investment capital. At the same time, the district has deployed the planning of subdivisions in Cam Lam new urban area and established urban development programs in the whole district. As a result, in 2024, the total production value of economic sectors in the district is estimated at 26,680 billion VND (reaching 107.6% compared to the Resolution of the District People's Council, an increase of 18.9% compared to the previous year). Of which, the value of industrial - construction production was estimated at 18,146 billion VND (an increase of 21.5% compared to the previous year); the value of agricultural - forestry - fishery production was estimated at 1,127 billion VND (an increase of 2.1% compared to the previous year); the value of commercial and service production was estimated at 7,406 billion VND (an increase of 15.6% compared to the previous year). The total state budget revenue was 270.5 billion VND, reaching 113.7% compared to the Resolution of the District People's Council.

Ngo Van Bao - Chairman of Cam Lam District People's Committee said that in 2025, Cam Lam district sets a target of increasing the total production value of economic sectors by 11.5% compared to 2024 (equivalent to 29,762 billion VND); total state budget revenue reaches 202 billion VND; strives for the rate of trained workers to reach 88.5%; the number of employed workers increases by 1,050 people; bringing Cam Lam district to meet new rural standards. To achieve the above goals, Cam Lam District People's Committee will continue to effectively implement Resolution No. 14 dated March 17, 2022 of Cam Lam District Party Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership over the program of developing trade, services and tourism in the district for the period 2022 - 2025. Cam Lam planned with a long-term vision

In 2024, Cam Lam District People's Committee has made efforts to coordinate and implement planning work under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee. On February 28, 2024, the Prime Minister issued a Decision approving the Cam Lam new urban master plan. Regarding the zoning plans, up to now, the Provincial People's Committee has approved 3 projects, including: Northern urban subdivision, Central urban subdivision, Coastal urban subdivision - Cam Lam new urban area. For the remaining 4 subdivisions including: Cu Hin mountain ecological subdivision, Western complex subdivision, Southwest ecological subdivision and Northwest ecological subdivision, Cam Lam District People's Committee is coordinating with the consulting unit to review and complete the planning task according to the comments of organizations, individuals and communities.

According to Mr Ngo Van Bao, currently, the People's Committee of Cam Lam district is coordinating with a consulting unit to develop an urban development program for the area expected to form a new urban area of ​​Cam Lam by 2030, with a vision to 2045. To develop Khanh Hoa province into a centrally-run city, first of all, the entire province needs to be recognized as an area expected to establish a type I urban area. The roadmap to achieve this is to promote the strong development of coastal urban routes, in which Cam Lam is the area with the most potential development opportunities due to its proximity to Nha Trang City. Therefore, Cam Lam is a key target for urban development in Khanh Hoa in the coming period. The provincial planning identifies that by 2030, Cam Lam will strive to become a city, a type I urban area. Therefore, the district is striving by 2030, to basically achieve some criteria of a type I urban area, moving towards establishing Cam Lam City under the province. To achieve the set goal, Cam Lam district needs to be planned with a long-term vision, a rapid growth scenario, based on the level of policy concentration and large financial resources and population size structure, quite different from the way of developing a district into a normal town.
