Energy for socio-economic development ensured

Recently, Power Transmission Company 3 held a workshop on coordinating the dispatch and management of the transmission grid to find the optimal solution to ensure energy for the socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa and the provinces in the Central Highlands region.

Contributing to industrial development

According to Power Transmission Company 3, the company is managing 2,338km of 500kV lines, 3,670km of 220kV lines, 6 500kV transformer stations, 21 220kV stations with a total transformer capacity of 17,248MVA. There are currently 98 power plants connected to the grid managed and operated by the company, including Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Ninh Thuan, Dak Nong, Lam Dong and Binh Thuan. In Khanh Hoa, the company manages and operates 393km of power lines and 4 transformer stations with a capacity of 3,153MVA. This is an area with large power plants in the country, so the amount of electricity that needs to be released every day is very high and directly affects the development of the electricity industry and the production activities of enterprises in the South Central region.

In 2024, the company provided the province with nearly 1.5 billion kWh of commercial electricity to serve production, business activities and people's lives, exceeding the plan by 20.55%. At the same time, more than 6.8 billion kWh (accounting for about 3% of the country's electricity output) of the Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant was transmitted to the 500kV grid; more than 256 million kWh of the Long Son Solar Power Plant was transmitted to the 220kV grid. Mr. Nguyen Sanh Duong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that Power Transmission Company 3 plays a very important role in ensuring energy for the province's socio-economic development. In the past time, the company has provided enough electricity to serve production and business, major events of the province and ensured energy for the lives of local people. The company has also mobilized and released a large amount of electricity from power plants in the province. This is a very important factor contributing to Khanh Hoa's industrial growth in 2024 (27.15%). In particular, recently, Power Transmission Company 3 has also coordinated very well with relevant units of the province in relocating high-voltage power works to construct expressways in a smooth and scientific manner; ensuring the relocation progress but still providing sufficient and continuous energy for production, business and serving people's lives.

Improving the capacity of power grid operation

In 2025, Khanh Hoa sets a double-digit growth target, so energy plays a very important role. In 2024, the commercial electricity output provided by Power Transmission Company 3 to the province is nearly 1.5 billion kWh. In 2025, the expected electricity output is more than 1.7 billion kWh. In addition, the power generation capacity of the BOT Van Phong 1 Thermal Power Plant connected to the 500kV grid, the Long Son Solar Power Plant, and the KN Van Ninh Solar Power Plant connected to the 220kV grid also increased, the pressure to release energy was also greater than in 2024. This created great challenges in ensuring stable grid operation, and required close coordination between management units and external investors to maintain the safety and efficiency of power transmission. Mr. Ho Van Huong - Director of Khanh Hoa Power Transmission said that during the operation of the power system, when an overload or full load occurs, the responsibility belongs not only to the operating team of Power Transmission Company 3 but also to the common role and responsibility of all relevant parties. Therefore, Power Transmission Company 3 organized a workshop on coordination of dispatching, management and operation of the transmission grid, thereby helping management agencies and power plants in the area to look back at difficulties, share lessons learned and find optimal solutions to ensure that the power transmission system always operates safely, stably and effectively.

To ensure electricity for the socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa in particular and the provinces in the Central Highlands region in general, in 2025, Power Transmission Company 3 and the National Power Transmission Corporation have had important orientations to improve the capacity of management, dispatching and operation of the transmission grid, especially in the context of renewable energy sources playing an increasingly important role in the national power system.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Thang - Director of Power Transmission Company 3 affirmed that in order to continue to coordinate effectively and together build a more stable and safer power grid system, Power Transmission Company 3 and related units will continue to strengthen coordination in operation. At the same time, the company will also strongly apply digital technology, artificial intelligence, automation in monitoring, operating and coordinating the power grid to improve efficiency and forecasting ability; promote cooperation with state management agencies, local authorities and enterprises to remove difficulties in mechanisms and policies, especially the issue of power transmission from power plants to the national power system. The company is committed to ensuring energy for the socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa and the Central Highlands provinces; and maximizing the capacity of power plants in the area, increasing electricity production and contributing to the growth of the industrial sector.
