Khanh Son is a mountainous district with a very low starting point, home to 13 ethnic groups with the Raglai ethnic minority accounting for more than 73.5% of the district's population. People's lives are mainly agricultural, forestry, small-scale production and heavily dependent on nature...; so, the local socio-economic conditions are still difficult. However, with the attention of the Central Government, the province and the efforts, emulation in labor, and production development of the people in the area, in 2024, Khanh Son has achieved many impressive results in socio-economic development; ensuring national defense and security.

Dinh Van Dung - Chairman of Khanh Son District People's Committee said that in 2024, Khanh Son met all the criteria to escape the list of poor districts in the country, 1 year earlier than the target set by the Resolution of the District Party Congress for the 2020 - 2025 term. In addition, the district has 2 communes: Son Binh and Son Hiep recognized as meeting new rural standards, 1 year earlier and 1 commune higher than the target set by the Resolution of the District Party Congress. The district achieved and exceeded 33/35 targets on socio-economic development set at the beginning of the year... This result is thanks to the district's extensive implementation of the movement "Emulation to perform the tasks of socio-economic development, national defense - security, building civilized urban areas, modern rural areas", which has been actively responded to and implemented by the local people.

The emulation movement has had a great influence, bringing practical results, bringing a new look to the ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Khanh Son to be more spacious; people's lives are increasingly improved in both material and spiritual terms. In 2024, the economic structure of Khanh Son district continues to shift in the right direction, improving the quality and efficiency of production, especially the district's strong products. Notably, the growth rate of the district's economic sectors reached double digits, at an increase of 10.02% compared to 2023 (of which, the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production increased by 10.5%; industry increased by 8.05%; trade - services and tourism increased by 10.05%). Agriculture was one of the spearheads of local economic development, the output of key fruit trees reached more than 21,625 tons, exceeding 27% of the 2024 plan, bringing in revenue of more than 1,000 billion VND; State budget revenue exceeded 10% of the plan... During the year, the district reduced 809 poor households, the poverty rate decreased by 11.46%, exceeding 58% of the plan; by the end of 2024, there were only more than 20% of poor households and 11.3% of near-poor households in the area. The average income per capita of the district reached more than 36 million VND/person/year, an increase of 1.53 times compared to the end of 2020... In addition, social security policies were implemented quickly and promptly by the locality to beneficiaries, especially the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households; the fine cultural traditions of ethnic minorities were preserved and promoted; national defense and security are maintained...

Building "mountainous ecological micro-urban areas"

The positive results from the emulation movement in implementing the tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security in 2024 are an important driving force for Khanh Son district to continue to launch and deploy this emulation movement to the entire political system and all classes of people in the area in 2025. From there, maximally mobilizing the "internal strength" of the locality, determined to successfully complete the goals set out in the Resolution of the District Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term; achieving achievements to welcome the 6th Provincial Patriotic Emulation Congress; creating a premise to successfully organize Party congresses at all levels, towards the District Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term with higher goals, bringing rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, becoming a well-off and rich district; soon build Khanh Son into a "mountainous and forest ecological sub-urban area" as directed by the Politburo in Resolution No. 09 on the construction and development of Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045...

Currently, Khanh Son is completing the steps to establish the Khanh Son District Planning Project to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval. Accordingly, the district has identified 3 sub-regions for development associated with the potential and advantages of each region and locality. With this orientation, Khanh Son will comprehensively develop socio-economic fields; in which, Khanh Son will gradually develop into an eco-tourism area, with unique and distinctive ecological landscape and cultural values, imbued with national identity, integrating agricultural and forestry ecological space, in which To Hap town is built to become a center for travel and accommodation services. The Khanh Son urban system will develop harmoniously, combining existing areas and new development spaces, following the forest ecological sub-regional model on the basis of forming urban areas with high density of trees, ecology, friendly to nature, creating green belts, green infrastructure... to gradually turn Khanh Son into a unique destination of the province with valuable ecological and cultural spaces, a center of mountainous tourism, with a focus on exploiting the cultural aspects of Khanh Son lithophone heritage and gong culture...
