Khanh Son: Efforts to build new rural areas

The Resolution of the Khanh Son District Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term sets a target that by 2025, the district has 1 commune meeting standards of a new rural area. Thanks to the efforts of the entire political system and all of the people, up to now, the district has had 2 communes recognized as meeting new rural area standards, 1 year earlier and 1 commune more than the target set in the resolution. This year, the Khanh Son District Party Committee continues to strive to have 2 more communes meeting new rural area standards, namely Son Lam and Son Trung.

Exceeding the set target

Khanh Son began implementing the national target program on building new rural area  in 2011, with 7 communes in ethnic minority areas, with a very low starting point. At that time, through review, all localities had very low criteria, only Son Binh commune met 9/19 new rural area criteria, and most communes met less than 5/19 criteria. By early 2021, among the 7 communes building new rural areas in Khanh Son, Son Binh commune met 15/19 criteria; Son Hiep commune met 14 criteria; Son Lam commune met 13 criteria; the communes: Ba Cum Bac, Ba Cum Nam, Thanh Son met 12 criteria; Son Trung commune met 11 criteria. Also because of such a low starting point, in the period of 2011 - 2021, Khanh Son was the only district in the province without a commune meeting new rural area standards. After that, the Resolution of the District Party Congress for the term 2020 - 2025 only set the goal of striving for 1 commune, Son Binh, to meet new rural area standards by the end of 2025. In recent years, the district has focused on implementing 5 groups of key tasks and solutions to build new rural areas. Accordingly, local authorities and Party committees have plans, roadmaps, and specific solutions to achieve each criterion; propagate and mobilize people to actively participate in implementing criteria that require little capital. The district also mobilizes all resources, integrates central and provincial capital sources to invest in building new rural areas; strengthens monitoring and evaluation of program implementation effectiveness... In addition, the district focuses on supporting production development and effectively increasing people's income, thereby rapidly reducing the poverty rate. In addition, Khanh Son district also focuses resources on investing in communes with high criteria to strive to have more communes meeting new rural area standards by the end of 2025.

This is a proud result of the entire district Party Committee when it completed 1 year earlier and exceeded 100% of the target of the number of communes meeting new rural area standards set by the Resolution of the District Party Congress for the term 2020 - 2025. This is also an important motivation for the district Party Committee to continue striving to have 2 more communes meeting 19/19 new rural area criteria in 2025”.

Many solutions to increase the number of communes meeting new rural area standards

At present, 4 out of the remaining 5 communes in the area, including Son Trung, Son Lam, Thanh Son and Ba Cum Nam have met 15/19 new rural area criteria, and Ba Cum Bac commune has met 14/19 criteria. Currently, the district is focusing on investing to bring Son Lam and Son Trung communes to new rural area standards by the end of 2025. At that time, the implementation of the target of the number of communes meeting new rural area standards in Khanh Son district will not only be completed early but also exceed the number set at the beginning of the term.

According to Mr. Bui Hoai Nam, to achieve this goal, the Party Committee and the authorities of Son Lam and Son Trung communes must identify this as one of the key political tasks of the district in 2025; in addition to completing the criteria that have not been achieved, it is necessary to continue to consolidate, maintain and improve the quality of the achieved criteria. To do so, the Party Committees and authorities of the communes need to focus on propaganda to raise awareness of the entire political system about building new rural areas, affirming the role of the people in building new rural areas, thereby mobilizing all classes of people to join hands and contribute to building new rural areas, building a new life that is increasingly rich and civilized. Along with that, localities also need to mobilize resources to invest in building new rural areas; promote their strengths to develop production to increase people's income, reduce poverty sustainably... Besides, the Party Committee and authorities of the remaining 3 communes in the district must make efforts to maintain the achieved criteria and complete the remaining criteria to soon meet the rural new area standards.
