Khanh Hoa speeds up industrial growth

To ensure that Khanh Hoa province's economy grows at a double-digit rate, the industrial sector is identified as playing a key role. Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee has proposed many solutions to help industry develop strongly in the last months of the year.

Many prospects

The province's industrial production in the first 6 months of the year did not grow as expected due to the instability of the world situation, the impact of US tariffs and the domestic market. Industry in the northern areas of the province increased by 1.7% over the same period last year, of which the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 6.7%; water supply and waste and wastewater treatment increased by 2.5%; and the mining industry increased by 26.8%. However, electricity production decreased sharply, about 6.3% over the same period last year, due to power plants in the province cutting power capacity, which led to a low increase in the industrial production index in the first 6 months of 2025.

In the south of the province, industry grew higher at 12.43% (the plan increased from 18 to 19%). In the first 6 months of the year, the province focused on directing support to remove difficulties for production and processing establishments; some processed and manufactured products grew quite well; increased investment attraction and accelerated the implementation of projects in industrial parks and industrial clusters, contributing to creating new capacity for the processing industry to promote industrial growth. Along with that, the province also directed the review and recommendations to remove difficulties and obstacles for energy and renewable energy projects and directed the implementation of the adjusted power plan VIII, approving the investment policy of the Ca Na LNG Power Project. The tasks of establishing the project to establish an inter-regional renewable energy service and industrial center, the transmission infrastructure project and the industrial parks of Phuoc Tien, Hieu Thien, Phuoc Minh 1, Phuoc Minh 2 were accelerated.

In the first 6 months of the year, the industrial sector in the south and north of the province had uneven growth rates. However, the merging of Ninh Thuan and Khanh Hoa provinces has opened up great prospects for the development of the province's industry. The necessary complementarity will create a multi-industry industrial ecosystem. In which, the energy sector will become the spearhead, determining the overall growth of industry. Ho Xuan Ninh - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said: The merging is a turning point in creating a strategic energy center of Vietnam. The southern Khanh Hoa area has abundant potential for sunshine and wind, with projects from large enterprises such as: Trung Nam Group, T&T, Ha Do, BIM and EDP. The northern Khanh Hoa region has added modern infrastructure, seaports, power grids, and completed airports, creating a "golden land" for energy development. With the right vision, favorable policy mechanisms, and cooperation between the government and businesses, Khanh Hoa can become the country's renewable energy center in the next few years.

Solutions for rapid growth

To ensure growth in 2025, the provincial leaders are identifying industry as the most feasible solution, creating leverage for economic development. From now until the end of the year, the province will focus on assessing the situation, reviewing the province's growth drivers to adjust the economic growth target and scenario for 2025 to suit the actual situation, while ensuring higher than the average growth of the whole country, in order to create momentum to enter the 2026 - 2030 period with the target of double-digit growth.

In the northern part of the province, the development of processing and manufacturing industries will be promoted; focusing on promoting the growth of key industries of the province such as bird's nest, seafood, shipbuilding, electricity production, sugar, garment, etc.; increasing the occupancy rate of existing industrial parks and industrial clusters; basically completing the clearance of clean land for investors to implement industrial park projects; approving the policy on methods of supplementing land use area to expand HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipyard Phase 2; explaining to the Prime Minister for approval to add the Van Phong 2 LNG Power Plant Project to the adjusted power plan VIII.

In the southern part of the province, the progress of key projects and the southern key economic zone will be accelerated; speed up the progress of Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Project, Ca Na Industrial Park, Ca Na General Seaport...; strengthen the work of inspection, post-inspection, resolutely handle projects that are behind schedule, prolonged; mobilize the entire political system to speed up the progress of the compensation, site clearance, resettlement and resettlement projects of Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant Project...

Along with that, the Provincial People's Committee focuses on site clearance, ensuring the progress of key national projects, especially the 2 Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plants; strengthen investment promotion, speed up the completion of procedures to start key projects such as Ninh Diem Industrial Park, Ninh Diem 1, Ninh Xuan and Phuoc Tien, Hieu Thien, Cam Thinh Dong Industrial Parks... In addition, the province quickly completed and submitted to the Central Government for approval projects on industrial centers, inter-regional renewable energy services; special mechanisms and policies for the development of Van Phong Economic Zone; and establishment of Khanh Hoa free trade zone.
