Khanh Hoa Province: New momentum from Cam Lam airport urban area

Khanh Hoa is moving towards a sustainable and modern growth model. In particular, the planning and development of Cam Lam into an airport urban area brings a strategic turning point, creating new momentum for the province to grow and become a centrally-run city in the near future.

Cam Lam is located adjacent to Cam Ranh International Airport, one of the largest and most modern international airports in Vietnam. This location not only helps Cam Lam become an important transit point on the North-South traffic artery with National Highway 1, expressways and railways passing through, but also creates ideal conditions for the development of a multi-functional urban area revolving around aviation activities. This land is also blessed with a long coastline, fine white sand and especially the unique Thuy Trieu lagoon ecosystem, nearly 20,000 hectares wide. This is an invaluable potential for developing eco-tourism, high-class resorts combined with modern urban areas, creating a difference compared to other urban areas. The large and flat land fund of Cam Lam area also brings extremely favorable advantages for planning and constructing large-scale functional areas.

Cam Lam not only builds an urban area near the airport, but all economic and social activities revolve around and are optimized thanks to the airport. This is a modern, ecological model but still in harmony with nature and of global stature".

The "heart" of this airport urban area is Cam Ranh International Airport. The airport has invested in modern infrastructure, is capable of receiving large aircraft and has a lot of room for expansion and capacity increase. The development of an airport urban area not only maximizes the role of passenger transport of the airport but also opens up opportunities for other value-added services, such as aircraft maintenance and repair centers, pilot and flight attendant training centers, or aviation inspection and research centers. This is a solid foundation to turn the airport into a development nucleus.

Le Tri Vien - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Lam commune emphasized: "To realize the aspiration of building Cam Lam into an airport city, breakthrough and synchronous solutions are needed. First is to complete the planning, build a breakthrough legal system, and recommend the Central Government to issue specific and outstanding mechanisms and policies. It is necessary to focus on developing synchronous, modern and smart infrastructure, especially the traffic system connecting from the airport. In the long term, focus on attracting strategic investors, large corporations with financial capacity and experience, along with outstanding preferential policies to attract experts and good scientists to create a livable and working environment".

With the close leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the determination of the entire political system, the consensus of the business community and all the people, Cam Lam is expected to take off, becoming a bright spot on the development map of the province and the region.
