On October 29, a working delegation from Department of Fisheries and Surveillance of Vietnam and the delegation from the Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources held a working session with DT Khanh Hoa Seaweed Joint Stock Company (D&T Group).

During the working session, D&T Group's leader introduced the company's operations, particularly its methods of farming, processing and creating value-added products from types of seaweed. D&T Group's leader also expressed a desire to cooperate with the Philippines in areas of technology exchange; research and development of high-yield, climate change-resilient seaweed varieties; developing value-added products from seaweed for the food, cosmetics and bio-pharmaceutical industries; training and expert exchange to develop technical human resources; and building a green, clean and sustainable seaweed value chain according to international standards.

Also at the working session, leaders of Khanh Hoa Provincial Cooperative Alliance introduced some of key fishery strengths and potential of Khanh Hoa to the delegations and proposed cooperation in aquaculture, particularly high-tech marine aquaculture.
The Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources delegation hoped to cooperate on implementing local models for cultivating seaweed and sea grapes and producing salanganes nest and salt. The delegation also hoped to learn experience, boost research cooperation, transfer technology, and co-develop projects related to farming and processing seaweed cottonii, sea grapes and sargassum in Khanh Hoa.
Both sides agreed to regularly exchange information regarding the needs and potential for cooperation among businesses involved in the production, processing and distribution of seaweed, lobsters and salt in the future.
