Efforts to support cooperatives to restore production

After the recent historic floods, many cooperatives in the province suffered a lot of damage. In order to help cooperatives restore production, authorities at all levels and sectors have implemented many drastic and synchronous solutions.

According to statistics from the Provincial Cooperative Union, the whole province has more than 50 cooperatives in many fields that suffered damage at various levels, however, the heavy damage is concentrated in agricultural cooperatives.

According to Nguyen Trung Dung - Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union, after the floods, the province promptly sent working groups to survey and grasp the actual situation in the heavily affected areas, promptly guiding cooperatives to overcome the consequences and soon restore production. The Provincial Cooperative Union is also coordinating with relevant localities, departments and branches to summarize the damage and propose appropriate support plans, focusing on preferential credit policies to support the recovery of machinery, production equipment, environmental treatment, disinfection of barns, disease control, land restoration, dredging of canals... to prepare for the new crop. At the same time, connecting and coordinating with the Ho Chi Minh City Cooperative Union to support livestock and seedlings for damaged units. Nguyen Van Que - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Hai Commune said: "Facing with the difficulties of cooperatives in the area, the Party Committee has led and directed the People's Committee of the commune to promptly encourage and share the difficulties of cooperatives and members. For flooded production areas, the locality has arranged water pumps to help members improve the soil and produce new crops; coordinate with agencies and units to have solutions to support seeds and materials for new crop production, preferential credit policies, and overcome plant and animal diseases...

Nguyen Thanh Ha - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested local leaders to urgently review, compile statistics, and grasp the damage situation of cooperatives to immediately report to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Industry and Trade to synthesize, evaluate, propose, and advise the Provincial People's Committee to support in accordance with regulations, helping cooperatives restore production in the shortest time.
