Investing in transport infrastructure to expand development horizons

The strategic plan to develop the communes of Khanh Son, Dong Khanh Son, and Tay Khanh Son into eco-friendly, mountainous "mini-urban areas" is opening up new development opportunities. To realize this goal, local authorities are prioritizing investment in transport infrastructure to expand the scope for development, thereby creating momentum for agriculture and eco-tourism while attracting investment.

Facilitating trade and unlocking potential

In Doc Trau Village (Dong Khanh Son Commune), work is accelerating on a project to extend the concrete road connecting the resettlement area to the Hamlet 4 production zone. With a total investment of VND 4.5 billion, the project spans approximately 800 meters with a 6-meter-wide roadway and includes a comprehensive drainage system - featuring ditches and culverts - along the entire route. According to Nguyen Ngoc Thuan (a Doc Trau resident), the previous access road to the production zone was narrow and dilapidated, making the transport of agricultural produce extremely difficult, especially during the rainy season. Trucks could not reach the site directly, forcing residents to rely on multiple transshipment steps; this increased costs and compromised the quality of produce by the time it reached the market.

Under Dong Khanh Son Commune’s development strategy, Doc Trau Village is set to leverage its natural landscapes, indigenous cultural heritage, and traditional craft villages, while integrating agricultural production with community facilities. Once transport infrastructure is completed, it will serve as a catalyst for expanding socio-economic development, including tourism. Huynh Dinh Khai, an official from the Dong Khanh Son Commune Economic Division, noted that following the administrative unit reorganization, the locality is currently formulating a master plan. Notably, the Doc Trau village area has been identified as a location with potential for community-based eco-tourism development.

Expanding scope for development

In Khanh Son Commune, the project to build a new bridge on the D6 road spanning the To Hap River serves as a key infrastructure project designed to drive the expansion of the development area. With a total investment of approximately VND 79 billion, the project features a prestressed reinforced concrete structure spanning over 109 meters. Currently, the contractor is mobilizing personnel and machinery to ensure construction proceeds on schedule. According to Nguyen Quoc Dong, Chairman of the Khanh Son Commune People's Committee, the locality is implementing several vital infrastructure projects such as Tran Binh Trong Road, Ta Luong Bridge, and notably the D6 Bridge to boost socio-economic development. The commune regularly urges construction units to concentrate their workforce and equipment, aiming to bring these projects into operation by 2026. Upon completion, these works will help expand the development area northward from the commune center, laying the groundwork for future residential, urban, commercial, and service zones.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Tri Dung, Vice Chairman of the Tay Khanh Son Commune People's Committee, stated that the commune has allocated public investment funds for 2026 in accordance with regulations, focusing on key priorities. Emphasis is placed on essential infrastructure projects that support production, improve local living standards, and foster socio-economic development. The inter-regional road project connecting Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh is currently underway in the commune. Up to now, local authorities have completed compensation and site clearance, paving the way for the construction unit to proceed with the project's subsequent phases.

For 2026, a total of over VND 168 billion in public investment capital has been allocated to the three communes of Khanh Son, Dong Khanh Son, and Tay Khanh Son for the implementation of transport infrastructure projects. The initiative aims to unlock the potential of available land, expand urban areas, and develop tourism zones. Once the transport network in the Khanh Son area is completed and fully integrated, it will open up new opportunities for local socio-economic development.

Construction of the Khanh Son - Khanh Vinh road is proceeding rapidly across the communes of Khanh Son and Tay Khanh Son. Spanning approximately 56.7 km, the project has a total investment of VND 1,930 billion, sourced from both central and provincial budgets. The road is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of 2027. Upon completion, it will connect the Khanh Son communes with the lowland regions, facilitating the movement of goods, boosting trade and services, and attracting investment.
