Maintaining quality of table tennis movement

Khanh Hoa Province’s Table tennis Tournament for Age Groups 2023 saw many exciting matches and attracted a lot of spectators. This was a useful playground to maintain the quality of table tennis movement in Khanh Hoa.

Table tennis is a favorite sport of many people. Although, recently, Khanh Hoa’s table tennis hasn’t obtained high achievements as it used to achieve when senior athletes Doan Kien Quoc was still playing, the table-tennis movement in the province is still developing strongly. The tournaments held by table tennis clubs, Nha Trang City or the province are often responded actively and gather many participants. The provincial Table tennis Tournament for Age Groups 2023 had 172 male and female participants from 15 clubs (DKQ Club, Amazon, Phu Duc, PPG, Ha Tuan, Phuong Son, M&T) and localities (Nha Trang City, Cam Ranh City, Ninh Hoa Town).

Besides serving as a playground to promote table tennis movement of the clubs and localities, the tournament was also an occasion for table tennis coaches and scouts of the provincial teams to discover outstanding faces for the teams. 
 

Celebrating after winning

Doan Kien Quoc, head coach of Khanh Hoa’s table tennis team regarded the tournament as a useful playground where the athletes of the provincial table tennis teams (mainly players aged from under 10 to under 15) can compete with many other players, get used to the pressure of competition and improve their skills. At the provincial tournament for age groups 2023, 8 athletes of the provincial teams played for their clubs or localities and got 1 gold medal and 4 bronze medals, contributing to the achievements of their teams.

Khanh Hoa Province’s Table tennis Tournament for Age Groups 2023 included 7 events: men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, mixed doubles; men's and women's teams of 4 age groups from 10 to over 40 years old. The tournament featured hundreds of matches. The final matches of each event were dramatic and exciting. For example, in men’s doubles of 16-39 age, both pairs Tran Dang Khoi - Doan Ngoc Binh An (PPG Club) and La Nhat Tai - Ngo Hoang Nam (Amazon Club) played excellently. The match was like a roller coaster. After nearly 1 hour of competition, with better concentration and competitive climate, Tran Dang Khoi - Doan Ngoc Binh An of PPG Club won 3-1 against their opponents.

A supporter of PPG Club presented Tran Dang Khoi and Doan Ngoc Binh An with VND4 million as an reward for their gold medal. “The quality of tournaments and athletes are increasingly better, which requires athletes to practice hard to improve the skills. The table tennis movement in the province, especially in clubs is developing strongly. Hopefully, the province’s sports sector will hold more playgrounds like this tournament to maintain the movement,” said athlete Doan Ngoc Binh An.

At the end of the tournament, the organization committee gave 39 sets of medals to the excellent individuals, pairs of athletes and teams. Nha Trang team placed first with 5 golds, 6 silvers and 3 bronzes, followed by DKQ Club and PPG Club respectively.
