A live videoconference themed "Towards Spratly Islands" was organized on January 24 by Khanh Hoa Radio-Television Station (KTV), the High Command of Naval Region 4, Spratly Island District People's Committee and Brigade 132 – Telecommunications University. Present at the videoconference were Le Thanh Quang, Central Party Committee Member, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Secretary; Nguyen Tan Tuan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Duc Vinh, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee; Tran Ngoc Thanh, Standing Committee Member of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; the Standing Committee Members of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council and People's Committee; together with leaders of provincial departments.

The videoconference took place at three locations which were 2-4 Square (Nha Trang City), Spratly Island Town and Sinh Ton Commune (Spratly Island District, Khanh Hoa Province). Through the videoconference, viewers could see the images about the development of Spratly Island District as well as the New Year atmosphere on the island.
At the videoconference, Le Thanh Quang wished the soldiers and civilians of Spratly Island District a Happy New Year and offered presents to their relatives who were joining the videoconference at 2-4 Square.
Superior Buddhist monk Thich Nguyen Quang, Deputy Chief of Managing Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Khanh Hoa, also offered New Year’s wishes to the monks and Buddhists on Spratly Island District.
Through the live videoconference, some soldiers and civilians living on the Spratly Islands had opportunity to talk with their relatives on the mainland.
The videoconference also included the musical items performed by Hai Dang Song and Dance Troop and Khanh Hoa Children’s House.
