On June 23, the Ministry of Information and Communications in association with Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee and Vietnam Post organized a ceremony at the Naval Academy (No. 30 Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang) to issue the first special stamp set of the sea and island of Vietnam.
Attending the ceremony were Nguyen Tan Tuan, Standing Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Council; Nguyen Dac Tai, Deputy Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Minh Hong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
The stamp set includes four stamps. The four creatures depicted on the stamps represent the precious and rare sea creatures living in Vietnamese waters, which are nautilus pompilius, trochus niloticus, tridacna maxima, and mauritia scurra. The drawing of the stamps was made by painter To Minh Trang.
At the ceremony, Vietnam Post sold the oil paintings which are the original design of the stamp set to a stamp collector. The VND100 million proceeds from the selling of the paintings were given to the soldiers and civilians living on the Spratly Islands.
On this occasion, Vietnam Post also cooperated with Vietnam Stamp Association and Khanh Hoa Stamp Association to display many collections of stamp.
