Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee on July 30 held a meeting to honor the people who have been prestigious among the ethnic minority communities in the province. The attendees included Nguyen Khac Dinh, Central Party Committee Member and Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Secretary; Y Thong, Deputy Minister and Vice-Chairman of Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs; Ha Quoc Tri - Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Deputy Secretary; and Nguyen Dac Tai, Permanent Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee.
At present, Khanh Hoa has more than 72,000 ethnic minority people, accounting for 5.85% of the province’s population, living mainly in the districts of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh and mountainous areas of Ninh Hoa Town and Cam Ranh City.
In the past years, these prestigious people contributed to propagate information and mobilize the ethnic minority communities to obey the Party's guidelines and policies and the State’s law. They encouraged and helped many ethnic minority people to change their mind to rise out of poverty; mobilized the ethnic minority people to actively engage in building cultural life and enhance solidarity, etc.
At the meeting, the provincial People's Committee presented certificates of merit to 92 people with outstanding achievements in promoting the roles of prestigious people among ethnic minority communities. The Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs and the provincial People's Committee presented gifts to these prestigious people with a total value of nearly VND83 million.
