Exciting Nha Trang City’s 2024 unicorn-lion-dragon dance festival

Nha Trang City’s 2024 unicorn-lion-dragon dance festival organized by Nha Trang City People’s Committee took place at 2-4 Square on March 17 afternoon. Present at the event were Nguyen Tan Tuan - Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Dinh Van Thieu – Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; the leaders of Nha Trang City People’s Committee and the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports.

The festival started with the parade of unicorn-lion-dragon clubs of 27 communes and wards in Nha Trang City along Tran Phu Street. The clubs converged and performed many exciting performances at 2-4 Square. Especially, Nam Hai Lien Huu unicorn-lion-dragon troupe from Ho Chi Minh City wowed local people and tourists with a marvelous performance with their 68m-dragon, which has been recognized as Vietnam’s biggest dragon puppet by Vietnam Record Association. Nam Hai Lien Huu unicorn-lion-dragon troupe is the reigning dragon dance champion in Vietnam and has made it to the world’s top 10 two times.

The unicorn-lion-dragon festival was a part of the activities to celebrate 100 years of construction and development of Nha Trang City (1924 - 2024) and 15th year since Nha Trang was recognized as class 1 municipality under Khanh Hoa Province (April 22, 2009 - April 22, 2024). It also aimed to preserve and promote the values of the traditional cultural characteristics in general and unicorn-lion-dragon dance in Nha Trang City in particular.
