Ponagar Temple Festival 2024 opens

Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee opened Ponagar Temple Festival 2024 at Ponagar Temple national monument on April 29 morning (lunar March 21). Present at the opening ceremony were Ta Quang Dong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Le Thi Thu Hang - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Le Huu Hoang - Standing Deputy Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee; Dinh Van Thieu - Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and the leaders of some provincial departments, sectors and localities.

Ponagar Temple Festival 2024 takes place from April 28 to May 1 (lunar March 21-23). The temple was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in 1979. Ponagar Temple Festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2012 and is underway for submission as a special national monument.

As reported, 100 groups of pilgrims with more than 5,000 people had registered to join Ponagar Temple Festival 2024 and around 100,000 people are expected to visit Ponagar Temple during the festival. This year’s festival will receive a large number of Cham people from the provinces of Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan. The festival’s organization committee has implemented works to ensure the security and order and safety for the participants.
