Strengthening Khanh Hoa - Stung Treng traditional friendship

Over years, Khanh Hoa and Stung Treng (Cambodia) have strengthened the traditional friendship, cooperation and mutual support. The mission led by Colonel Trinh Viet Thanh, political commissar, Khanh Hoa Military Headquarters has just visited Stung Treng Province and organized several practical activities to support cadres and soldiers of Stung Treng Province and people in Thala Barivat District, Cambodia.

At the meeting with leaders of Stung Treng Province, the two partners informed about the political situation, socio-economic development of the two provinces Svai-som-ieng, Governor of Stung Treng Province, expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese army and people in general, and Khanh Hoa province in particular for the assistance for the armed forces and people of Stung Treng Province in recent years.

The mission offered 150 gifts worth VND500,000 each to poor families and free medications to 1,000 residents in Thala Barivat District. Heng Em, Veal Denh Village, OnLongChong Commune, Thala Barivat District said, “I am so happy to get free medical check-up, medicines and receive a gift. Many thanks to Vietnamese soldiers.”

Major, Dr. Mai Son, Director of Military Medicine, Khanh Hoa Military Headquarters said Thala Barivat District has a population of about 40,000 living mainly on agriculture; The area is far from the center, so the residents suffer from material and spiritual difficulties. In addition, facing difficulties in health care along with unfavorable weather, the elderly often suffer from cardiovascular and blood pressure diseases; Children are quite malnourished. Therefore, the doctors focused on providing health care in internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, dermatology, nutrition counseling and child care.

Besides, Military Headquarters’ medical staff, cadres and soldiers of Stung Treng Province’s Military Sub-Region also joined the free medical check-ups, assisting in providing health care counseling, medical check-ups and medicines.

Dr. SanSokKia, Head of the clinic, Military Sub-Region of Strung Treng Province said, “Still lacking medical facilities, we are very excited to get assistance from Vietnamese colleagues. This is also an opportunity for us to exchange experience, thereby improving our professional competence to enhance health care."

Colonel Trinh Viet Thanh said that charity trip to Stung Treng Province is annually organized by Khanh Hoa Province. The activities are to further tighten the friendship and solidarity between the two countries Vietnam and Cambodia in general, the two provinces of Khanh Hoa and Stung Treng in particular. Since 2015, the provincial Military Headquarters has organized 6 trips to provide free check-ups, medicines and thousands of gifts to residents in many communes and districts of Stung Treng Province.
