VND5,500b for reconstruction of Khanh Hoa General Hospital

Local authorities are making procedures to organize a ground-breaking ceremony for Khanh Hoa General Hospital in a 11ha area in Vinh Thai Commune, Nha Trang City. The existing Khanh Hoa General Hospital location will be partly transferred into General, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said on April 19.

Construction procedures accelerated

Khanh Hoa Department of Health in cooperation with Khanh Hoa General Hospital and relevant departments and agencies is developing a project on building Khanh Hoa General Hospital. The Provincial People's Committee will submit the project to the Ministry of Health for appraisal and to the Prime Minister for approval. At the same time, the Department of Health is also making a pre-feasibility study report submitted to the Provincial People's Council when the construction project of Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital is approved.

In early April this year, during a business trip to Khanh Hoa Province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked with the Provincial General Hospital. The Prime Minister approved the reconstruction of the hospital towards the goal that Khanh Hoa will become a center of high quality healthcare in the region and the whole country. Therefore, the re-construction of the provincial hospital is a key task of the province in the coming time."

To become the largest hospital in the region

According to Bui Xuan Minh, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Health, when allocated the capital, Khanh Hoa Department of Health will start the bidding process. The ground-breaking ceremony is due in October 2023 and the construction is expected to finish in January 2027.

Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital is built to comply with the requirements of Resolution 42 of the Government on promulgating an action program to implement Resolution 09 by the Politburo on construction and development of Khanh Hoa Province till 2030, with a vision to 2045, defining that Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital will become the largest hospital in South Central Coast region.

Accordingly, the hospital is expected to be built in an area of 11ha in Vinh Thai Commune, Nha Trang City with 1,500 beds with a capital of approximately VND5,500 billion. In the planning of hospitals in Khanh Hoa till 2030, the existing Khanh Hoa General Hospital will become General, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital

Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee will also assign the Department of Health to make a report proposing the use of the existing Provincial General Hospital, including partly converting the location into an Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

The existing Khanh Hoa General Hospital located on Yersin Street, Nha Trang City was built before 1975 and then some more blocks were added to meet the increase in medical treatment. This is the first-grade hospital under the management of Khanh Hoa Department of Health. There is a significant need for new hospital to meet the growing demand for medical treatment and enhance health care.
