Women get engaged in environmental protection

The Women’s Union at all levels in Khanh Hoa Province has boosted environmental protection and climate change response with various practical models and activities, contributing to keeping the environment green and clean and constructing new rural areas.

In order to raise women’s awareness of protecting the environment and raising funds to help those in need. The Women’s Union at all levels has run the model of collecting scrap and plastic waste. According to Le Thi Hoang Nga, Chairwoman of the Women's Association of Phuoc Long Ward (Nha Trang City), the association has implemented the plastic waste collection model through "Green house VND100/day". The ward has 3 socalled "environmental houses" located at Phuoc Thanh 3 Women's Association. In order to successfully implement the model, the Executive Board of the Ward Women's Association has made home visits to propagate recycling. The proceeds from selling scraps, including cans, plastic bottles, cardboards, etc, are used to help the needy.

Recently, the Women's Association of Khanh Son District has installed 2 more "Green houses" in Ba Cum Bac and Son Trung communes with a total value of VND8 million. According to Cao Thi Hien, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Khanh Son District, the district has 17 "green houses" with more than 1,760 members and women, contributing to the effective implementation of the program "Building new rural areas and civilized towns".

In addition, in the first 6 months of 2023, the Women’s Union from district to grassroots levels has coordinated to organize many propaganda sessions on environmental protection and climate change response with more than 150 meetings, getting nearly 5,000 women engaged in environmental activities with clean-up, plastic waste reduction, etc.

In Suoi Hiep Commune (Dien Khanh District), the Commune Women's Association also regularly disseminates environmental law. Since the beginning of the year, 100% of members and women have registered to participate in the implementation of the project "Khanh Hoa women participate in plastic pollution prevention and control in the period 2021 - 2025".

In addition to the models of collecting scraps and plastic waste, the Women's Union at grassroots levels has also joined effort in contributing to keeping roads green, clean and beautiful. Furthermore, since the beginning of the year, 27 tree plating projects have been developed with nearly 10,000 trees, flowers and 10,000 mangrove trees.

In the coming time, the Provincial Women's Union will continue promoting propaganda and mobilizing women's members and residents to raise responsibility, contributing to saving the environment, according to Nguyen Hoang Van Ha, Vice-President of the Provincial Women's Union.
