Nha Trang Bay coral protection and regeneration solutions proposed  

The Socio-Economic Advisory Council of Khanh Hoa Provincial Fatherland Front Committee held a workshop to propose solutions to urge the community’s environmentally-friendly behavior for coral protection and regeneration on Nha Trang Bay on July 28.

At the workshop, the delegates shared concerns over coral reef degradation and proposed solutions to restore and protect coral reefs on Nha Trang Bay such as propaganda and law enforcement against exploitation of marine resources in the core zone of the marine reserve; cooperation with enterprises to establish artificial reefs in combination with coral restoration in the waters adjacent to Bich Dam Island; and stop the exploitation of marine resources in tourist spots and waters under the management of enterprises.

In addition, delegates suggested the province would mobilize and support businesses to invest in establishing artificial reefs and restoring corals; build a mechanism to manage coral reef ecosystems in the waters under the management of enterprises; raise public awareness of environmental protection and biodiversity conservation; develop livelihood models linked with environmental protection and biodiversity conservation; boost environmental education, especially on islands and in coastal areas.
