Promoting economic cooperation with Richmond (Canada)

Within the framework of the working visit to Canada, Nguyen Khac Toan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People’s Council in partnership with the Consulate General of Vietnam and the Vietnam - Canada Entrepreneurs’ Association organized an economic cooperation seminar between Khanh Hoa and Richmond City, British Columbia, Canada on July 29.

With rapid economic recovery from Covid-19, Khanh Hoa currently ranks 9th out of 63 provinces and cities in terms of growth rate. Nguyen Khac Toan noted that Khanh Hoa and Vancouver have similar potentials and strengths which can give mutual support in economic development, especially marine economy and tourism. Both Khanh Hoa and Vancouver have international airports, that would be convenient to launch direct flights from Khanh Hoa to Vancouver.

Besides, the delegation exchange as well as cooperation between the two business communities will contribute to expanding trade and taking advantage of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). He affirmed that Khanh Hoa always welcomes foreign investors, including Canadian entrepreneurs to develop business cooperation and investment in the province.

Dau Manh Hung, Vice -Chairman of Vietnam - Canada Entrepreneurs’ Association said that the Vietnam - Canada Entrepreneurs’ Association could provide a link for businesses in Richmond in particular and British Columbia in general to develop cooperation and investment in Khanh Hoa and vice versa.

Chak Au, Councillor, Richmond City also realized the potentials and investment opportunities in Khanh Hoa and expressed the hope to help strengthen connection between investors in Richmond and Khanh Hoa in the fields of tourism, international trade and marine transport.

On the same day, the provincial delegation worked with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Vancouver. Consul General Nguyen Quang Trung promised he would continue providing a link for Khanh Hoa Province and Richmond City to develop cooperation and investment in commerce and tourism.
