Variety of English language exchange activities for young people

Along with the implementation of the program “Khanh Hoa residents speaks English”, over the past time, the Youth Union at all levels has organized plenty of playgrounds to enhance English language skills for young people.

Several English language competitions have been held attracting a large participation of young people and residents. The Provincial Youth Union and of “Khanh Hoa residents speak English” project board has recently organized an English singing and rap contest "Sing 2 shine". The preliminary round drew more than 200 contestants across the province. 10 best candidates were selected to advance to the final round.

Contestant Vo Thi Vu Uyen said, "I’m so excited about the contest because this is first time an English singing contest has been held. Apart from appealing awards, the contest provides an opportunity for young people to showcase their musical talents as well as English language skills. This is also to increase motivation to learn English."

In addition, the Youth Union and “Khanh Hoa residents speaks English” project board have also organized contests, namely "Road to knowledge" and "Ringing the golden bell" providing a platform for young people to showcase knowledge about the society, history, sports, life... combined with English  language skills."

Most recently, the Provincial Youth Union in collaboration with the University of the Pacific Ocean and “Khanh Hoa residents speak English” project board has held the provincial final round of the 2023 "English Olympiad for students in Khanh Hoa Province" for the first time with the participation of more than 13,300 contestants entering the preliminary round.

According to Tran Anh Tuan, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee assigned the Youth Union to jointly host the program “Khanh Hoa residents speak English” in an effort to develop a learning society and popularize English language to all residents in the province.

The Provincial Youth Union and “Khanh Hoa residents speak English” project board organize "English speaking event" in public places once a month and develop EZ English smartphone app for learning English.

In addition, the provincial Youth Union, VinUni University and related agencies have established 162 English clubs in Nha Trang City and Cam Lam District with more than 16,500 members who are civil servants, officials, workers, students and young people; and 13 English clubs and free-English teaching groups in Van Ninh District.

To expand English language learning among residents, the provincial Youth Union will continue improving English learning apps from basic to advanced levels to meet learners’ needs via social media as well as in the community; and maintaining English speaking clubs.
