Coral restoration and sustainable development project launched

Khanh Hoa Provincial Women's Union jointly with relevant agencies held a ceremony to kick off a project on "Promoting dialogue and cooperation between the community and the private sector and state agencies in sustainable coral conservation and sustainable development in Hon Mun waters, Nha Trang Bay" on August 4.

The project is developed by Khanh Hoa Women's Union in cooperation with Nha Trang City People's Committee, the Management Board of Nha Trang Bay; the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Small Grants Program (SGP) in Vietnam.

The project is scheduled to run within 1 year from July 2023 to July 2024 with a total capital of nearly VND2.6 billion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tran Hoa Nam, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested relevant departments and agencies would support the Provincial Women's Union and project implementation agencies in the project development and hoped research institutes, experts and scientists would continue joining efforts in coral preservation and development on Nha Trang Bay.
