Nurturing skills for children and teenagers

The recent provincial youth and children's camp festivals have created playgrounds for skill development and experience exchange, contributing to improving youth work efficiency.

The traditional youth camp festival in Khanh Hoa Province is held every 2 years with numerous exciting activities. This year, the 19th camp was held at the Pacific Ocean University with the participation of about 600 Youth Union members and young people. The event also provided an opportunity for the Youth Union officials to meet and share experience through competitions and other exchange activities.

According to Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, traditional camp festivals are opportunities for young people and children to meet and share experience; develop teamwork skills and sense of discipline; enhance solidarity; as well as promote the Youth Union tradition. Therefore, the Youth Union at all levels needs to continue promoting practical effectiveness through such camp festivals; contributing to skill training, improving the effectiveness of the Youth Union and the youth campaign in the province.

Joining the provincial youth camp festival for the first time, Le Van Dao, Secretary of the Youth Union of Van Luong Commune (Van Ninh District) had the opportunity to promote his youth work skills as well as learn many other new things. "Participating in the provincial camp helps Youth Union officials like me to get useful knowledge and experience and have a chance to meet outstanding young people," he said.

This year, campers competed in many activities such as youth work competition; flower arrangement; folk dance, display of business startup products; camp decoration... Besides, in order to strengthen propaganda about the sea and home islands, sub-camps were named after the islands of the Spratly Archipelago. The organizers also integrated the content of  the  gameshow “1vs 100" in the program "Khanh Hoa residents speak English" for the diversity of the camp activities.

According to Tran Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of the province, the 19th Provincial Youth Traditional Camp Festival is one of the big youth events where representatives of Youth organizations at grassroots level had an opportunity to meet and exchange experience, discover new talents to promote skills, knowledge and competencies of young people.

In Ninh Hoa Town, the 22nd Phu Dong Camp for Children's Houses organized by the Provincial Children's House in collaboration with the People's Committee of Ninh Hoa Town contributed to cultivating teamwork skills. The camp festival is held once a year with plenty of activities such as contests on trumpet playing, painting, art, Big Games; robotic assembly and control; Rubik's cube solving and water rocket launch.

According to Nguyen Phuong Doanh, Director of the Provincial Children's House, such skill training activities have created opportunities for children to show their talents as well as nurture individual and teamwork skills, contributing to improving children's activities.
