Opportunity for showcasing mediation skills

Khanh Hoa Provincial Mediation Contest 2023 has just been organized by the Provincial People's Committee, providing an opportunity for mediators to share their expertise and passion for mediation.

All the teams had had thorough preparation for the contest. The greeting shows by more than 40 mediators from 8 groups from 8 districts and towns representing nearly 4,700 mediators filled the atmosphere with fun and excitement. The most exciting category was maybe the themed play-acting. Within 7 minutes, each team vividly delivered daily issues with logical solutions.

The laws and regulations on civil, criminal and administrative issues together with social knowledge, ethics, customs, traditions and conventions were conveyed with mediation skills. Conflicts coming from real life made their comedies so beguiling.

As members of the first-prize-winning team, Nguyen Trung Binh and Vo To Nhu from Nha Trang City were happy to be the winner as well as get much helpful knowledge and experience.

Their acting was based on real-life disputes between 2 families which had required them much effort to peacefully resolve. Disputes unresolved for a long time can turn conflicts to be more intense. We get problem-solving experience from other teams.

According to Ly Nguyen Nguyen Vu, Director of the Department of Justice, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, the mediation at the grassroots level helped minimize lawsuits and avoid lengthy litigation.

The contest is an opportunity for mediators to meet, exchange and learn experience; discover new talents in mediation, inspiring conciliators; strengthen propagation of the law on civil, marriage and family, violence prevention and control, and gender equality. The event is to honor mediators; affirming the position, role and meaning of grassroots mediation.

The Provincial Mediation Contest 2023 was organized by the Provincial People's Committee in response to Vietnam Law Day 2023. The Organizing Committee awarded the 1^st prize to Nha Trang City team; 2^nd prize to Cam Ranh City; 3^rd prize to 2 teams in Van Ninh District and Cam Lam District; consolation prizes to the 4 teams of Khanh Son, Khanh Vinh, Dien Khanh and Ninh Hoa. In addition, 2 additional prizes were presented.

Reportedly, there are 949 mediation teams with 4,694 mediators in Khanh Hoa Province in 2023. T. The province successfully resolved 179 out of 202 cases in mediation, reaching 88.6% in the first 6 months of the year.
