Seeking solutions to create development breakthrough in north-central and central coastal region

The Coordinating Council for the North-Central and Central Coastal Region held a conference chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province on June 12.

Delegates at the conference discussed solutions to create a breakthrough in the regional development, including strengthening connectivity in the region, promoting potentials and strengths of each locality together with energy development, regional planning, transport connectivity, high-quality agriculture, tourism and human resource development.

Also at the conference, the delegates proposed many solutions to promote connection in the region to bring agricultural and fishery products of localities in the region to major markets, especially in the Central Highlands, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi; cooperate in human resource training to serve the development of the marine economy and a number of other industries; develop fisheries logistics service centers to share information, create links in fishing, aquaculture and seafood processing; promote sustainable marine economic development in association with environmental protection; maintain defense and security; coordinate in human resource training and employment, especially in hi-tech zones, economic zones, industrial parks, export processing zones, etc.

Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Tan Tuan, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee hoped in the coming time, provinces and cities in the North Central region and Central Coast would continue keeping connected and giving mutual support in socio-economic development, especially in regional development in the fields of tourism, human resource training, fisheries and auxiliary industries, etc.

Addressing the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assessed that the establishment of the council plays a very important role in innovating the regional coordination mechanism, boosting sustainable regional socio-economic development, protecting the environment and ensuring national defense and security.

He suggested that members of the Regional Coordinating Council should develop a synchronous operating mechanism and pilot effective connection models. The Deputy Prime Minister asked localities in the region to consider the establishment of sub-regions connected based on geographical locations, potentials and strengths; and provide consultancy for the Government for promulgating regional planning and infrastructure investment, especially in transport for sustainable development of key industries.

Localities were also requested to share information and get experience from each other to work out practical cooperation plans for mutual development. The Ministry of Information and Communications was requested to build a regional database for localities to share information to develop appropriate cooperation solutions. Central ministries and agencies were to assist localities in the region to accelerate regional connectivity.
