Nha Trang – Cam Lam Motorway project main route has opened to traffic. The remaining work items are urgently underway. Under the direction of the Prime Minister, Nha Trang – Cam Lam Motorway is the first project to pilot the entire non-stop electronic toll collection (ETC) system. The investor has made every attempt to operate the ETC by December 31.
Nha Trang – Cam Lam Motorway opened to traffic on May 19. The Prime Minister cut the ribbon to officially open Nha Trang - Cam Lam Motorway on June 18, 3 months and 15 days ahead of schedule. This is the first motorway running through the province, helping facilitate travel. The investor has pledged to finish the remaining work items by the end of September.

The project has been basically completed in accordance with the contract. The State Acceptance Council has inspected the conditional acceptance of many items, including the main route traffic safety system, B40 steel fences, barbed wire fences, bridge expansion joints, tunnel painting, pedestrian sidewalk railings in the tunnel; ventilation and lighting inside and outside the tunnel; fire extinguishers, etc.
The remaining work items include collection roads, crossroads, overpasses, Suoi Dau intersection, Cam Lam intersection, a connection route to Provincial Highway 3, a connection route to National Highway 1, a vertical drainage system, talus slopes, an operator house, toll stations, an intersection lighting system have been completed according to the schedule in the BOT contract.
According to the approved technical design, the toll collection system of Nha Trang - Cam Lam Motorway Project is a mixed one-stop toll collection. However, under the Prime Minister’s direction, the entire toll collection system must be converted to ETC. Nha Trang – Cam Lam Motorway is the first project to pilot the ETC. Therefore, its initially approved design is subject to amendment.
Nguyen Tuan Anh, Director of Nha Trang - Cam Lam Motorway Investment Company Ltd. said, according to Elcom Telecommunications Technology Joint Stock Company, which is in charge of ETC system construction and installation, the toll collection system after installation and integration must undergo single-trial operation for expected 10 days/ station. The ETC system construction and installation is scheduled to finish by December 8 and then undergo a systematic trial. The ETC system is expected to be completed for toll collection by December 31.
The construction invested under public-private partnerships (PPPs) as a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract began in September 2021 with 4 lanes, 17m wide, at a speed between 60km and 80km/hour with a total investment capital of approximately VND5,524 billion. The capital recovery time is 16 years and 4 months.
