Mobilizing recourses for social care and support

The Fatherland Front Committee of Cam Lam District, Khanh Hoa Province has mobilized resources to improve the well-being of the poor to ensure social security, contributing to promoting mutual support and cordiality in the community.

Providing housing aid

The family of Nguyen Van Truc, Nghia Nam Quarter, Cam Duc Town used to live in a dilapidated house. He is sick and unable to work. Khanh Hoa Fatherland Front Committee has extracted VND60 million from the Provincial Fund for the Poor together with the savings from his family to build a 36m2 house worth VND160 million in total. “My dream of a safe house has come true. I am so happy. From now on, we no longer worry when a rainy season comes,” he said.

The 20m2 house of Mau Van Luong, Van Son Village, Cam Phuoc Tay Commune is damaged due to long-term use. Without stable work, they could not afford a new house for their 4-four member family. In mid-2023, thanks to funding from the provincial Fatherland Front Committee and VND60 million aid from Khanh Hoa Lottery Company, a 50m2 house totaling VND120 million was built to give them a safe, warm and decent home to live in.

According to Bien Hong Hai, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Cam Phuoc Tay Commune, 13 other families benefitted from the housing aid for house construction on this occasion. Each house has an area of more than 40m2, worth VND80-120 million funded by Khanh Hoa Lottery Company Ltd.(VND60 million/house). Thanks to the care and support of the authority at all levels and businesses, the commune has basically eliminated decrepit houses, contributing to local poverty alleviation. In the coming time, the Fatherland Front Committee of the commune will continue coordinating with associations and local authorities to empower the poor to lift themselves out of poverty through economic opportunities.

Several activities dedicated to fighting poverty

Recently, Cam Lam District Fatherland Front at all levels has closely coordinated with local authorities to raise funds for the Poor and the Relief Fund to care for the needy. Since 2021, the District Fatherland Front has coordinated with agencies to support the construction of 32 houses for those in housing needs with a total cost of nearly VND1.9 billion. They included 9 houses financed by the district's "For the Poor" Fund, 2 houses by 79 Ngo Gia Tu Company Limited, 20 houses by Khanh Hoa Lottery Company Ltd and 1 house by Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company.

Along with housing aid, the Fatherland Front Committee of the district has also done a good job of seeking donations to help disadvantaged families in the district. Specifically, from the district's Fund "For the Poor", the Fatherland Front Committee of the district offered gifts worth VND300 million to 1,000 households; coordinated with Vingroup to give 827 gifts worth more than VND496 million; jointly with the district Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to give gifts to 100 poor ethnic minority households in Suoi Cat and Cam Phuoc Tay communes; received allocation from the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to give gifts worth VND60 million to 100 poor households.

"In response to the campaign ‘For the poor - leaving no one behind’ and the Month For the Poor 2023, the district has propagated and mobilized social resources to care for the poor, contributing to ensuring social security. Currently, 56 families in the district are still in need of financial support for house construction. We look forward to continuing to receive contributions of the community and businesses to support the disadvantaged to have better life prospects,” said Huynh Huu Nghi, Standing Member of the Fatherland Front Committee of Cam Lam District.
