English public speaking contest for commanders of Young Pioneer detachments

Khanh Hoa Comrade Association is implementing an English public speaking competition for commanders of Young Pioneer detachments in Khanh Hoa Province.

The English public speaking Competition is designed to effectively implement the campaign "Khanh Hoa children emulate to follow the 5 lessons taught by Uncle Ho" and promote play-based learning among children and teens; improve their English language proficiency, create a playground for practicing English, promote reading culture and honor cultural values among children and teens.

According to Huynh Thi Nhu Y, Chairperson of Khanh Hoa Comrade Association, the contest is open to members of the commanding boards of Young Pioneer detachments in the province. The contest has 3 rounds. In the 1st round, contestants create video clips, 3 to 5 minutes long, about any topic they wish to talk about.

The organizing board will select 30 video clip entries for the 2nd round (15 for primary schools and 15 for junior high schools).

In the 2nd round, 30 contestants will be divided into 2 groups for primary and junior high schools. 1 day before the contest day, contestants will draw lots to get their speaking topics. The best 12 contestants will enter the final.

The 2nd round is expected to take place at Khanh Hoa Youth Union’s Hall in early December. There are first, second and third prizes for individuals together with team awards presented to detachments with the most contestants.

Khanh Hoa Comrade Association has assigned Khanh Hoa Children’s House to preside over and cooperate with relevant agencies to organize the contest and mobilize more funding for the event.

The annual contest is committed to the discovery and promotion of new talents to get prepared for the higher levels of competition.
