Job creation for ethnic minority people

In recent years, local authorities have focused on implementing many solutions in vocational training and job creation for ethnic minority people, contributing to job creation, contributing to increasing income and improving living standards.

A resident named Mang Thai (Suoi Cat Commune, Cam Lam District) said, “I have got a stable job. In addition to a salary, I also benefit from social, medical and unemployment insurance and other support for meals, etc. I also receive bonuses and gifts from the company on national holidays. Thanks to a stable job, our life has much improved. I also encouraged many other villagers to work at industrial parks to get more income and their life has become much easier.”

For many years, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Khanh Son District has coordinated with Khanh Son District Boarding Vocational School for Ethnic Minorities to conduct surveys and organize garment classes for hundreds of ethnic minority workers; provided a link for employment at OASIS Garment Company Ltd. based in Ho Chi Minh City with nearly 50 ethnic minority workers getting employed. In addition to a salary of more than VND8 million, employees are also supported with accommodation and insurance. On national holidays, the company gives bonuses to employees and supports transportation back home for the Lunar New Year celebration.

Khanh Vinh District has also mobilized people of working age, especially ethnic minorities, to get vocational training and work at businesses in Suoi Dau Industrial Park, such as Tin Thinh Company Ltd., Gallant Ocean Vietnam Joint Stock Company, Hai Long Nha Trang Seafood Company Ltd. with an income of VND7 to 11 million/month. The latest survey shows that in the district about 300 ethnic minority people are working at businesses in Suoi Dau Industrial Park.

According to Cao Minh Vy, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Son District People's Committee, for sustainable poverty reduction, the district has focused on vocational training associated with job creation. In addition, each year from 180 to 200 students are provided vocational training; 90% of vocational school graduates have jobs at businesses inside and outside the district. Khanh Vinh District has also propagated policies to support people working abroad; coordinated to open job fairs; and surveyed labor needs at Song Cau Industrial Cluster. Recently, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Beverage Joint Stock Company has just recruited 50 people in Khanh Vinh to work at Sanvinest Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest Raw Material Processing Factory in Song Cau Industrial Cluster. Vocational training associated with job creation is required for sustainable poverty alleviation. Recently, the department has focused on drastically implementing solutions in vocational training enrollment based on residents’ interests; collaborated with businesses to employ ethnic minority people; implemented policies to support vocational training, remuneration for those working in enterprises, and support funding for those working abroad on a definite-term labor contract.
