Authorities are accelerating the procedures for the widening of Nguyen Tat Thanh Ave.. section from Cam Ranh International Airport to Long Ho Bridge. The project is scheduled to be implemented in the 2021 – 2025 period.
For many years, Nguyen Tat Thanh Avenue, the section from Cam Ranh Airport to the My Ca area to the National Highway 1 has a bottleneck, a vulnerable point for drivers. Driver Luu Hien Khang, who takes the airport shuttle to Phan Rang City, Ninh Thuan Province, said, "The investment in the road widening is essential to solve transportation bottleneck and facilitate travel in Bai Dai, a famous site for resort tourism, contributing to promoting local economic development."
The extended Nguyen Tat Thanh Ave. is the main route connecting Cam Ranh Peninsula, Cam Ranh Airport with Cam Ranh City in particular and the southern provinces (Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan...) in general.
The road section is proposed for widening. |
The existing route is 7m wide with 2 lanes, not synchronized with the sections from Cu Hin Pass - Cam Ranh Airport and Long Ho bridge section to My Ca intersection. Specifically, the section from Cu Hin Pass to the front gate of Cam Ranh International Airport has a road width of 16m (8m on each side - 4 lanes). The route from the gate of Cam Ranh International Airport to Long Ho Bridge has a 13m roadbed, of which the existing asphalt concrete road surface is 7m (2 lanes). The section from Long Ho Bridge to My Ca intersection has a 27m roadbed, 15m road surface (7.5m on each side - 4 lanes).
Reportedly, in 2020, the Provincial People's Council approved the construction planning, scale and investment scope of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street project in Resolution No. 55. Accordingly, the project has a total length of more than 3.1km with a 36m wide cross-section.
Recently, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a document on the construction of Nguyen Tat Thanh Ave., section from Cam Ranh International Airport to Long Go Bridge, approving to assign the Provincial Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board to prepare a feasibility study report for the investment project on the Nguyen Tat Thanh Avenue section pursuant to the approved Resolution of the Provincial People's Council. The investment in the lighting system will be considered during project implementation according to the approved policy.
The Provincial People's Committee also assigned Cam Ranh City People's Committee to review and update the Nguyen Tat Thanh Ave. Section to the city's general planning adjustment project to 2045 as regulated. Localities are required to coordinate closely with the Department of Transport and the Department of Construction during the planning implementation. In the process of preparing a feasibility study report and implementing the steps for construction investment, the Department of Transport was required to implement solutions to enhance traffic safety together with temporary lighting on the route until the project is completed.
According to Pham Van Hoa, Deputy Director of the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, pursuant to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the board has submitted a report to the Department of Construction for appraisal of the feasibility study report about investment in the construction of Nguyen Tat Thanh Avenue section project from Cam Ranh Airport to Long Ho Bridge.
Accordingly, the project will be implemented in the period 2021 – 2025 with a total capital of about VND100 billion. The project is designed to have 7 lighting poles with a total land area of more than 115.000m2.
Currently, this area is developing significantly with many resorts currently operational and under construction. The investment in renewing the extended Nguyen Tat Thanh Ave. section will help increase connectivity between Nha Trang City, northern Cam Ranh Peninsula and Cam Ranh City Center, contributing to ensuring a complete sustainable transportation network and promoting the development of Bai Dai area.
