Phu Kieng Bridge to be built in 2024

Nha Trang City Construction Investment Management Board is making procedures to start the construction of a new solid Phu Kieng Bridge connecting the local road 45 with the northern Hon Nghe area in Vinh Ngoc Commune, Nha Trang City in 2024. That means the dream of thousands of residents of a solid bridge as a replacement for the existing old temporary wooden one is going to come true.

According to the report Nha Trang City Construction Investment Management Board, the new reinforced concrete Phu Kieng Bridge, 280m long and 16m wide, is located at the current old wooden bridge. Nha Trang City People's Committee has approved the new bridge project in principle.

Accordingly, the ways leading to the new bridge are in accordance with the approved planning as follows. The southern one, 20m wide and 135m long, is connected to the local road 45; The northern one is divided into 4 branches. The road connecting to riverside road E1 is 22m wide and about 200m long; The road connecting to road E2 is 16m wide and about 100m long. The total investment is about VND477 billion, including VND300 billion for construction and the remaining for site clearance and other costs.

According to Nguyen Dinh, Director of Nha Trang City Construction Investment Management Board, the adjusted master planning of Nha Trang City till 2040 and the adjusted zoning planning of Hon Nghe area (Vinh Ngoc Commune) has been submitted to the authorities for approval.

When the planning is approved, Nha Trang City People's Committee will submit the investment policy to the City People's Council for approval to carry out investment procedures, including bidding for Phu Kieng Bridge as regulated. The construction is expected to start in the second quarter of 2024 and be implemented within 18 months.

Vinh Ngoc Commune has 3 villages, namely Xuan Ngoc, Hon Nghe 1 and Hon Nghe 2 with about 2,000 households living on the other side of Cai River. The lack of a bridge forces villagers to take a 30-minute detour to reach Vinh Ngoc Commune Center for their travel to school or work.

Therefore, a temporary wooden bridge was set up by a local person named Nguyen Van Thuan. However, the travel on the temporary bridge is not safe enough, especially in rainy seasons. Villagers look forward to the construction of a new solid Phu Kieng bridge, according to Le Van My, Chairman of Vinh Ngoc Commune People's Committee,

Reportedly, the investment plan for the Phu Kieng bridge construction has been completed, awaiting approval to be submitted to Nha Trang City People's Council. When Phu Kieng concrete bridge is in operation, it will surely not only ensure travel safety but also create motivation for economic development in this area. This is one of three key projects in Nha Trang City in the 2020 - 2025 term (along with Nha Trang City Administrative Center and Thai Nguyen Junior High School Construction).
