Strengthening international friendship

In recent years, Khanh Hoa Province's foreign affairs activities have gained outstanding achievements, contributing to strengthening international friendships with traditional partners, and expanding cooperation with many localities around the world.

Expanding international cooperation

On November 6-10, the provincial mission led by Nguyen Hai Ninh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee paid a working visit to Japan. During the working visit, the provincial leader attended meetings with leaders of Vietnamese foreign affairs agencies in Japan and leaders of localities and representatives of many enterprises in Japan.

Especially, on November 8, in Hiroshima Province, the Khanh Hoa Investment and Tourism Promotion Conference organized by the Provincial People's Committee in Japan took place and achieved many important results. At the conference, Sungroup signed a memorandum of understanding with 4 Japanese partners on developing projects in Khanh Hoa; Vietravel signed 2 memorandums of understanding with DMC Hiroshima Company and Showa Travel Company, etc.

Nguyen Hai Ninh believed that the relationship between the two localities would be strengthened. The working visit was among activities to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973 - 2023); expanding diplomatic relations and promoting the friendship between Khanh Hoa Province and other territories in the world.

Earlier, in July, the provincial mission led by Nguyen Khac Toan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People’s Council paid a working visit to Canada. At the meeting, Nguyen Khac Toan introduced highlights of provincial potentials, strengths and development orientation, especially in the fields of investment, trade and tourism together with the promotion of international exchange and cooperation. He also expressed the hope that the British Columbia Government would encourage entrepreneurs in British Columbia to develop trade and investment in Khanh Hoa.

At the meeting, Jagrup Brar, Minister of State for Trade of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation of British Columbia promised that he would provide the most favorable conditions for supporting businesses of the two localities to survey and boost investment cooperation in the coming time.

Chak Au, Councilor, Richmond City also realized the potential and investment opportunities in Khanh Hoa and expressed the hope to help strengthen the connection between investors in Richmond and Khanh Hoa in the fields of tourism, international trade and marine transport.

At the working session, the signing ceremony of the plan to implement a memorandum of understanding between Khanh Hoa Province and the  Northern Territory of Australia was held. This is considered as a demonstration of the strong, long-term partnership between Khanh Hoa Province and the Northern Territory of Australia over the past 25 years with the purpose to further promote the cooperation of the two localities.

According  to Northern Territory Administrator Hugh Heggie, the plan signing ceremony confirmed the sustainable cooperation development in the coming 5 years, creating favorable conditions for the Northern Territory to expand industries and strengthen partnerships in agriculture.

In mid-October, the provincial working delegation led by Ha Quoc Tri, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Khanh Hoa attended Khanh Hoa Tourism Promotion Conference in Sydney (Australia). Ha Quoc Tri hoped that Australian travel businesses would have more information about destinations, products and services with connection and cooperation with tourism businesses in Khanh Hoa Province to build tours bringing tourists from Australia to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa and vice versa towards sustainable development of businesses in particular and tourism industry growth in Khanh Hoa Province and Australian provinces and cities in general. With great potential and strengths, Khanh Hoa Province has gained the interest of countries to get connected and strengthen cooperation.

At a meeting with Nguyen Tan Tuan in mid-June, Vahram Kazhoyan - Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Vietnam proposed Nha Trang City be twinned with an Armenian city to tighten the cooperation between the two localities. Vahram Kazhoyan also said that the Armenian Embassy has worked with travel companies to promote tours between Armenia and Khanh Hoa; issued e-visas toward visa exemption for travelers from both countries; and worked with airlines to open direct flights between Khanh Hoa and Armenia.

In late August, the leader of Geumsan District (Chungcheongnam Province, South Korea) had a working session with Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. At the meeting, Park Beomin proposed signing a cooperation agreement between Geumsan District and a locality of Khanh Hoa Province. Dinh Van Thieu directed the Department of Foreign Affairs and the People's Committee of Cam Lam District and related departments and agencies to consider signing a cooperation agreement between Cam Lam District and Geumsan District.

Promoting friendship

Khanh Hoa Province is implementing international agreements signed with 4 foreign localities, including: Attapeu and Champasak (Laos), Saint Petersburg City (Russia) and Ulsan City (South Korea) together with the resumption of connection with the Northern Territory of Australia after many years of interruption.

Provincial leaders have continued discussions with foreign localities to sign a number of international agreements. In the immediate future, negotiations will be conducted to sign a memorandum of cooperation with Vientiane Capital (Laos) in the period 2023 - 2027.

Since the beginning of the year, the number of international delegations and representatives of foreign agencies and organizations to Khanh Hoa has increased compared to previous years. Many international events have been held in Khanh Hoa such as the Conference on master plan announcement and investment promotion of Khanh Hoa Province; Nha Trang Sea Festival - Khanh Hoa, etc.

Ambassadors of Singapore, Laos, Switzerland, Indonesia, Norway, Japan...; Consulates of countries: France, India, Singapore, China, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba...; leaders of Champasak, Attapeu, Vientiane, Stung Treng, Lorient (France) and many international organizations have paid working visits to Khanh Hoa for cooperation in fields of great potentials. That has shown the effectiveness of diplomatic activities in local socio-economic development, contributing to promoting the prestige and position of Khanh Hoa Province.
