According to data from the Provincial Center for Disease Control, 429 malaria cases were reported in Khanh Hoa from 2018 till October 2023. Most cases were recorded in the mountainous district of Khanh Vinh District.
According to the malaria elimination roadmap in Khanh Hoa Province, malaria is eliminated in Nha Trang City and Cam Ranh City by 2022, followed by Dien Khanh and Van Ninh Districts by 2023; Cam Lam District, Ninh Hoa Town and Khanh Son District by 2025; and Khanh Vinh by 2030.
At the meeting, the Provincial Center for Disease Control proposed in the period 2024 – 2026 the RAI project would support Khanh Hoa Province to implement the project in 24 communes, including 12 communities in Khanh Vinh District; provide 10,000 mosquito nets/ hammocks/ year; chemical sprayers, etc. for malaria prevention and control in the province. The mission hoped Khanh Hoa would continue implementing the project effectively to reduce malaria case incidence.
Reportedly, RAI project has run in 179 districts in 16 cities and provinces nationwide, starting in Khanh Hoa in 2016 to improve the efficiency of malaria prevention and control.
