Determination to implement Nha Trang - Da Lat motorway

Nguyen Hai Ninh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; Tran Duc Quan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; and Tran Van Hiep, Deputy Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presided over a meeting on December 9 discussing the implementation of Nha Trang - Da Lat motorway project.

20 years ago, the two provinces of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong jointly built the National Highway 27C, shortening the distance between Nha Trang City and Da Lat City, and facilitating travel and trade between the two localities. However, the route has winding and steep passes. With increasing transport demand, a motorway connecting the two key tourist centers of Da Lat and Nha Trang is essential.

According to Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan, this is a strategic route, playing an important role in national defense and security as well as socio-economic development in the Central Highlands and Southern Central Coastal region. The Nha Trang - Da Lat motorway ensures a synchronous connection with Dau Giay - Lien Khuong motorway, facilitating travel.

Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Hiep also confirmed the determination to implement a motorway connecting Khanh Hoa with Lam Dong. This is the long dream of the two local governments. The motorway is expected to bring economic benefits and ensure defense and security, shorten the distance between Da Lat and Nha Trang; and open up opportunities for economic development in disadvantaged districts of the two provinces.

The route is planned to run parallel to the National Highway 27C.

The National Highway 27C shortened the distance between Da Lat and Nha Trang to 140km. If this project is approved, it will take only 1 hour from the flower mountain city to the coastal city.

After research, the route running parallel to the National Highway 27C, starting at Nha Trang – Cam Lam Motorway and ending in Da Lat with a length of 81.5km and an investment scale of 22 – 24.75m was chosen for proposal.

Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Quan said in the coming time, the two provinces will prepare procedures for proposing the project to the Government for approval. If the project is approved, the two localities will establish a project steering committee and coordinate to ensure the project is implemented soon before 2030.

Earlier on November 2, the People's Committees of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces had a working session and reached an agreement on the proposal for Nha Trang - Da Lat motorway project.

Nguyen Hai Ninh, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee confirmed the route is conveniently connected to the existing transportation system and supporting travel on the National Highway 27C in rainy and stormy seasons.

Concluding the conference, leaders of the 2 provinces reached an agreement on proposal for Nha Trang - Da Lat motorway project. This is a strategic route, playing an important role in national defense and security as well as socio-economic development. Lam Dong Province will coordinate closely with Khanh Hoa Province to make procedures for proposing the investment to competent authorities.
