Bringing New Year festive atmosphere to highlands

Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended a Lunar New Year program  "Heineken Cares – Sharing for a Happy New Year” held by Vietnam Red Cross jointly with Heineken Vietnam Brewery Limited Company in Lien Sang Commune, Khanh Vinh District on January 24. Many gifts were given to the disadvantaged and ethnic minority families.

A charity New Year fair took place at Lien Sang Commune Cultural House with stalls of essential food, soft drinks, candies, together with spans, clothes and eclectic kettles for residents to choose from with their vouchers. There were also areas for folk games, haircuts, healthcare consultancy and check-ups.

Receiving a VND800,000 voucher from the program, Cao La Chieng in Bau Sang Village, Lien Sang Commune chose boxes of cakes, candies, cooking oil, rice, and sugar. She also got an electric kettle at the fair. “This is the first time I have received a voucher of such high value. There are a lot of things for us to choose from at the fair for the Tet celebration,” she said.

After receiving a free check-up and medicines, Cao Thi Xieng in Cha Lien Village went shopping at the New Year charity fair. "I got some rice, cakes, candies, soft drinks and new clothes for my children," Xieng said. Her husband passed away, leaving her 3 little kids behind to navigate their lives without him.

Vouchers are offered to residents.

The New Year charity program was organized for 200 disadvantaged households in Lien Sang Commune, creating a festive atmosphere, offering shopping vouchers, VND800,000/voucher, and providing free examinations and medicines worth VND130,000/person. The event also included folk games and free haircuts for those in need. The event was sponsored by Heineken Vietnam Brewery Co., Ltd.

Ly Thanh Ngan, a sales director, Heineken Vietnam Brewery Co., Ltd. said, “With the desire to join efforts to ensure people in need have a happy fulfilled New Year holiday, we coordinate with the Central and Provincial Red Cross societies to organize the program, including medical check-ups and a charity fair  to give the needy what they need for the coming Lunar New Year. Families were offered shopping vouchers to enter the fair to browse the items and get what they needed for free."

The Provincial Red Cross presents a certificate of appreciation to a sponsor.

Speaking at the program, Nguyen Tan Tuan thanked the sponsor, the Vietnam Red Cross for accompanying the province to support the Lunar New Year celebration, especially for ethnic minority people. He also sent New Year wishes to all people in Lien Sang Commune in particular and Khanh Vinh District in general; and requested the local authority to accelerate road repair work to facilitate holiday travel.

Embracing the spirit of the 2024 New Year with kindness, since the beginning of this year, the Provincial Red Cross at all levels has mobilized and offered nearly 15,740 New Year gifts totaling more than VND6.3 billion, of which, the Provincial Red Cross donated nearly 1,290 gifts worth more than VND1.1 billion in total; and the Red Cross at all levels mobilized 14,450 gifts, nearly VND5.2 billion in total.
