International conference on green transformation and green growth for Khanh Hoa Province, model of Nha Trang City was held by Nha Trang City People’s Committee on January 18.

Present at the event were Nguyen Hai Ninh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Khac Toan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Council; Ho Van Mung, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Nha Trang City Party Committee; Pham Thi Xuan Trang, Deputy Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; and Tran Hoa Nam, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee

The conference drew the attendance of nearly 200 representatives from local departments and agencies and scientists at home and abroad, discussing about the current situation and strategies for green economic development in Vietnam; experience in green transformation in some countries; clean environment; project on green transformation and green growth in Nha Trang and so on.

Representatives gave a lot of suggestions on boosting green transformation and green growth in Khanh Hoa; giving insights into strengths as well as shortcomings to improve on the way to promote the transition from a 'brown' economy in which economic growth is largely dependent on environmentally destructive forms of activity, especially fossil fuels based on coal mining to a 'green' economy that is friendly to the earth’s ecosystems; building policies which result in bringing benefits to businesses which join efforts in environmental protection and green economic development.

Piloting a marine tourism urban area associated with promoting cultural values and applying science, technology and digital transformation; promoting the use of electric vehicles; clean, high-tech agriculture; increasing the proportion of renewable energy; building a mandatory carbon market, etc.

Ho Van Mung confirmed that green transformation and green economic development are important and urgent tasks. Nha Trang City is determined to pioneer in green transformation and sustainable growth to achieve environmental goals for climate change adaptation, especially in accordance with the commitments of the Vietnamese Government at COP26.

As a capital city of Khanh Hoa Province, Nha Trang pioneers in green transformation and green growth. Nha Trang is committed to moving towards greening the economy with economical and efficient exploitation and use of natural resources and energy based on sustainable development. application of digital technology and digital transformation, development of sustainable infrastructure to improve growth quality and minimize negative impacts on the environment.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hai Ninh confirmed green transformation is a political task to implement the Politburo's Resolution No. 09 on the construction and development of Khanh Hoa Province till 2030 with a vision till 2045 and a chance for the Khanh Hoa to develop sustainability.

Therefore, in addition to provincial development strategies, opinions and suggestions of domestic and foreign scientists and businesses are highly appreciated to effectively deploy green development strategy, especially in the fields of green agriculture, green industry, green tourism, green urban areas, green transportation, green lifestyle and green growth to raise public awareness of green transformation.
