New Year gift-giving for those in need

 

Implementing the New Year charity program 2024, Khanh Hoa Red Cross at all levels is seeking donations as 35,000 gifts to families in need in order to provide material and mental assistance for the vulnerable during the coming Lunar New Year holiday.

Happy with New Year gifts

On January 4, Khanh Hoa Red Cross in association with Sacombank Khanh Hoa offered 200 New Year gifts totaling more than VND200 million to residents in Khanh Vinh District. Receiving a gift worth VND1 million, containing necessities, cakes and cash, Cao Thi Hang, Group 3, Khanh Vinh Town said, “My  husband died young. My child is living with disability. I’m struggling to make ends meet. The gift is so valuable for us during the coming New Year’s holiday.”

Nguyen Minh Thanh with leg impairments, Group 4, Khanh Vinh Town, is happy to receive  a New Year gift. For him, the gift-giving shows the concern and support for the vulnerable.

According to Ca Tong Thi Men, Deputy Chairman of Khanh Vinh Distinct People’s Committee, the charity New Year-gift-giving program has helped support the poverty alleviation in the locality.

At the end of December 2023, Nha Trang City Red Cross cooperated with Citadines Bayfront Nha Trang Hotel to give gifts worth VND20 million to those seeking care and shelter at Thien Phu Pagoda (Vinh Thanh Commune, Nha Trang City). Le Quoc Thinh, Chairman of Nha Trang City Red Cross said, The City's Red Cross at all levels is assigned to mobilize resources for as many as 7,000 gifts for the needy to make sure all vulnerable people will receive New Year gifts."

Together with New Year gifts, new houses are going to be handed over to the needy before the start of the Lunar New Year under the campaign "Each organization or individual is attached with one humanitarian address”.

As many as 35,000 New Year gifts to be given

According to Phan Dinh Huan, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Red Cross, the New Year charity campaign takes place following the so-called “New Year for the poor and Agent Orange Victims” program implemented for over 20 years, contributing to promoting community connection and care for the struggling families, Agent Orange victims and vulnerable people to ensure a happy New Year for everyone. 

As planned, under the New Year charity campaign 2024, the Red Cross at all levels will seek donations to offer many as 35,000 gifts worth VND300,000 or more each and medicines free of charge to the needy.

Khanh Hoa Red Cross alone will seek donations to offer 400 gifts worth VND1 million each to the needy in Khanh Vinh District. Reportedly, the campaign is scheduled to end on February 4, 2024 with a total value of approximately VND17.5 billion.

Besides, the campaign “Each organization or individual is attached with one humanitarian address” has mobilized donations to the construction of 73 houses. 70 houses have been completed and the remaining 3 will be handed over this January to ensure the families have new safe homes to live in before Tet. The Provincial Red Cross has also offered more than 1,000 New Year gifts to the needy.

As planned, the charity New Year program held by Red Cross of districts and towns will offer 7,000 gifts in Nha Trang City, 4,000 gifts in Cam Ranh City, 7,000 gifts in Ninh Hoa, 5,000 gifts in Cam Lam, 3,000 gifts in Van Ninh, 4,000 gifts in Dien Khanh District, 3,000 gifts in Khanh Vinh District and 2,000 gifts in Khanh Son District.
