For Green Nha Trang

Over years, Nha Trang City has increased green space to keep the urban environment eco-friendly and sustainable.

More green space

The green plan along Vo Nguyen Giap Street median implemented by Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee since 2022 has created shade and added green space to the gateway to the city center.

“During the urban development, higher density in urban areas needs more green space. Therefore, the province has built more trees on the beach park, along Vo Nguyen Giap St., along Quang Truong River banks to create a stunning shady view and cool fresh air in the city,” said Luong Van Tao, a resident in Vinh Thai Commune, Nha Trang City.

According to Nguyen Thi Minh Hien, Deputy Director of Nha Trang City Public Services Management Board, in recent years, following the city's direction, the board has contracts to plant many trees. Currently, there are more than 10,000 trees in the city on sidewalks, in parks and in urban areas, adding attraction to the city landscape. The stretch of trees along streets and the coastal park on Tran Phu and Pham Van Dong streets are carefully cared for and pruned.

In addition, there are also large gardens getting involved in agricultural eco-tourism in suburban areas, contributing to improving the ecological environment and landscape of the city. Meanwhile, according to Dam Hai Van, Deputy Chief of Nha Trang Bay Management Board, implementing the Provincial People's Committee master plan to restore Nha Trang Bay till 2030, Nha Trang Bay Management Board coordinated with many agencies, localities and residents to plant 2.5 ha of mangrove forests on Dam Bay Island, at Tac Estuary and along the Cai River banks in 2023.

Covering deserted land and bare hills with trees

According to the mid-term preliminary report on implementing the 17th Resolution of Nha Trang City Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, implemented the project "Planting one billion trees in the period 2021 - 2025", the city allocated 50,010 acacia seedlings to 5 households to plant 30ha of concentrated forests in Phuoc Dong Commune. Since 2021, the city has boosted afforestation, mobilizing organizations and individuals to plant nearly 109,000 scattered trees of all kinds.

According to Nguyen Sy Khanh, Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee, the protective forest area in Nha Trang is being oriented for expansion in Vinh Luong Commune (Hon Lao), Vinh Hoa Ward (Co Tien Mountain), Phuoc Dong Commune (Kenh Ha Lake) and Vinh Nguyen Ward (Tre Island).

Production forests are located on hills and low mountains in communes and wards in the city, mainly concentrated in the localities of Vinh Luong, Phuoc Dong, Vinh Phuong, Vinh Trung and Vinh Hoa.

In the coming time, the city will continue to direct specialized departments and localities to encourage residents to get engaged in tree cultivation to expand woodland cover, create landscapes, protect and improve the ecological environment.
