Khanh Hoa University:
Towards developing digital university

Khanh Hoa University has just issued a digital transformation plan for 2024, vision to 2025, which determines fundamental and comprehensive innovation in all aspects of the digital environment, aiming to develop a digital university based on a smart and green university strategy by 2035.

According to PhD. Phan Phien, Principal of Khanh Hoa University, the university has recently increased tasks handled and solved online; deployed training management softwares; equipped the library with modern specialized equipment; accepted non-cash payments on the website, etc.

In the digital transformation plan for 2024, vision till 2025, the university will invest in digital technology infrastructures; and build a diverse and flexible working environment based on digital technologies towards synchronous and comprehensive digital transformation by 2025.

Accordingly, the university will promote digital transformation in all fields, including training, testing, science and technology; domestic and international cooperation, digital learning materials, human resource management; material and financial facilities; educational quality assurance and accreditation meeting digital transformation criteria for higher education institutions issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Specifically, the university will upgrade inclusive digital futures and facilities; utilize training management apps for the management of curricula, scoring, timetables; graduation standards and so on; utilize softwares for online admission; diploma and certification management; testing; science and technology management; foreign cooperation; educational quality accreditation; build an E-learning training system; digitize library resources of lesson plans, theses, dissertations and researches by lecturers and students.

Khanh Hoa University, which is directly managed by Khanh Hoa Province, needs to have a proactive plan to build a suitable management information system to suit its specific characteristics as well as serve its overall digital transformation requirements.

Building and upgrading IT infrastructures, including network, server and cybersecurity are identified as the most basic solution as the foundation for the university’s digital transformation.

In addition, the database system will be built to ensure data connection and sharing with the Provincial People's Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training, and other educational institutions. Moreover, the university will boost solutions to improve management capacity and information technology applications for the staff, lecturers and students.

The university has set the goals that by 2025, 100% of tasks will be processed digitally; 100% of instructions will be tracked and processed on the E-office system; 100% of documents will be shared online with state administrative agencies, public service agencies; 100% of records will be processed online; the library will be completely digitalized. 

Besides, at least 90% of students will be satisfied with the university’s online administrative procedures. Online training will be applied for 30% of full-time training programs and online training for other forms of training. Online exams will be plotted for some modules, etc.
