Effectiveness from online law knowledge quiz competitions

The recent online competition on the Land Law 2024 in Khanh Hoa Province has attracted 19,854 participants, mainly officials, civil servants and students, showing the great attraction of the new form of law dissemination.

Increase in quality and quality

In 2023, three online competitions on law and regulations, namely the Environmental Protection Law, Cyber Security Law and the Law on Practicing Democracy at the Grassroots in the province drew as many as 46,526 participants. Most came from Nha Trang City (3,565 people), Ninh Hoa Town (2,373 people), Cam Ranh City (2,529 people), Van Ninh District (2,477 people), Education and Training sector (2,051 people), and Health sector (1,851 people).

The competition improved in quantity and quality. The 3 online competitions in 2023 had 397 participants (0.85%) giving correct answers to 100% of multiple choice questions compared to 678 people (3.41%) with correct answers to 30/30 questions this year. Some finished the quiz in just 6 minutes and 50 seconds.

According to Nguyen Thi Man, Chief of Van Ninh District Justice Department, the District Party Committee’s Commission of Propaganda & Training urged Party committees and branches to encourage members to participate in the competition. The District Justice Division proactively provided consultancy for the District Legal Propaganda and Education Coordinating Council to coordinate with the Department of Justice to invite provincial-level legal rapporteurs to disseminate the 2024 Land Law to officials; coordinate with the Provincial Lawyers’ Association to disseminate the Law to local residents; and propagate the 2024 Land Law on social media, which helped draw many people to confidently take the quiz.

According to Dang Van Khanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Justice, the questions focused on practical regulations of the Land Law 2024. The Organizing Committee also coordinated with Aloha E-Commerce Joint Stock Company in Ho Chi Minh City to build and manage the data system to ensure smooth operation and information security for the online competition.

Information about the quiz was posted on the 2 portals of the Provincial Legal Propaganda and Education and Department of Justice; published on Khanh Hoa Newspaper, Vietnam Law Newspaper, Khanh Hoa Radio and Television Station, in e-leaflets and on other social networks such as Zalo and Facebook. The organizing committee, agencies and localities issued many documents to urge people from all walks of life to join the competition.

Online quiz completions to be continued

Tran Thi Huong (Ninh Hoa Urban Joint Stock Company), who won the first prize with 30/30 correct answers and accurate prediction of the number of participants said, “I find the online quiz very helpful and convenient. I hope the province will have more online law knowledge competitions, contributing to improving law propaganda."

According to the Leader of the Department of Justice, the online competition with a simple interface is convenient for participants to take part in and do the quiz anytime and anywhere via many social media sites, contributing to boosting legal propaganda and education on a large scale.

In the coming time, the Department of Justice will provide consultancy for the Provincial Legal Propaganda and Education Coordinating Council to continue organizing online law knowledge competitions; and upgrade the 2 portals of the Provincial Legal Propaganda and Education and the Department of Justice for such online competitions.

According to Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, the online competition is one of the effective forms of legal propaganda and education. In the coming time, it is necessary to expand the online competitions on law knowledge to reach more people as well as mobilize resources for more effective propaganda.

The contest was organized by the Provincial Legal Propaganda and Education Coordinating Council from April 20 to May 10 on the 2 portals of the Provincial Legal Propaganda and Education and the Department of Justice. On May 19, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 2 third prizes to 4 groups and 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, 20 consolation prizes to 26 individuals; the group first prize went to Nha Trang City People's Committee and the individual first prize to Tran Thi Huong (Ninh Hoa Urban Joint Stock Company).
