Efforts to complete Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project, Nha Trang City sub-project

Khanh Hoa Provincial Development Project Management Board is making efforts to boost the progress of the Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project, Nha Trang City sub-project (CCSEP Nha Trang)

According to the contract signed with the World Bank (WB), CCSEP Nha Trang is scheduled to finish on June 30. The Provincial Development Project Management Board together with Nha Trang City People’s Committee is taking solutions to speed up the work progress.

The work on the northern wastewater treatment plant is being completed.

Le Huu Hoang, Member of Khanh Hoa Provincial Standing Party Committee, Standing Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee thanked the WB for its contributions to the provincial development, especially to the implementation of CCSEP Nha Trang.

The province has fully taken the recommendations by the WB mission. Le Huu Hoang assigned the Provincial Development Project Management Board to coordinate with Nha Trang City People's Committee to work with Nha Trang Public Service Management Board to examine and approve completed constructions for operation and management; continue propaganda for wastewater connection, strengthen the capacity of the Public Service Management Board to operate the Northern Wastewater Treatment Plant, etc.

Regarding the contract package of a northern wastewater treatment plant, the work is about 70% complete. This package is expected to be completed in June. For the package of the construction of rainwater pumping stations, the work is 50% complete. For the package on a wastewater treatment plant in Northern Nha Trang City, and mechanical equipment for wastewater pumping stations, the work is 95% complete. The construction is expected to continue and be completed in June. The obstacles are due to site clearance.

According to Nguyen Thanh Hien, Director of the Provincial Development Project Management Board, the progress will be accelerated to complete all the work items once the site is handed over. The project is scheduled to end on June 30. The progress is being accelerated.

According to Nguyen Van Minh, Vice-Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee, there are 8 cases of land acquisition not yet completed for the project implementation. The city has reviewed each specific case, made a plan to thoroughly resolve the cases to ensure compliance with legal regulations, and soon hand over the premises to the investors for the construction.

Invested work items to soon be examined, approved and operated

According to Ahmed A. R. Eiweda, the leader for Sustainable Development at the WB in Vietnam, the project has brought many benefits to residents. Hopefully, the two sides will take specific actions to resolve difficulties and shortcomings in the project components to maximize the benefits.

According to Nguyen Thanh Hien, the component 2 of the CCSEP Nha Trang is being submitted by the Provincial People's Committee to the Provincial People's Council for consideration and comments at the Provincial People's Council's meeting in early June; then to the Ministry of Planning and Investment for appraisal and to the Prime Minister for approval for the investment amendment before June 30. When approved by the Prime Minister, the Provincial Development Project Management Board will continue providing counseling on project adjustment procedures as a basis for using reciprocal capital to implement the remaining items under the component 2 in July.
